I've got a very loved and well-used Nikon FE that I've had since the beginning of time - its what I learned to shoot film and develop/print with at school.
The light meter seems to be a bit off, as in it constantly gives out readings that are too low. The needle doesn't seem to be stuck, it just floats at the base shutter speeds.
The battery check light is working so it doesn't seem to be power related.
Otherwise it works just fine.Anyone know of a repair place that can look at this? I'd really like to keep it running as its such a nice thing to use.

My dad somehow found this for me at a car boot sale; Canon A-1 and a 28mm prime for a fiver!
Bargain of a lifetime.

Re: Provia, what is the latitude like? I mean, obviously it's going to be a hell of a lot narrower than negative, but I once shot a roll of Velvia in Cyprus a couple of summers ago, and every single shot was blown at as fuck. Is that an extreme example? Or do I really need to nail the exposure every time?

Provia is a lot better than Velvia for latitude - it's not perfect though.

Any tips for travelling through airport security with film? Do I need to keep it separate and ask for it to be hand searched and not X-rayed?
-
• #4611
Ok, separate camera bag it is then. Thanks for the link :)

That sucks.
Incase you were thinking of it, I would encourage you not to fuck with the shutter yourself. I took one (not a Super Graphic) apart and it was a nightmare to put back together!
Catch 22 really. Worthless/Barely usable as is but not worth repair/selling.
We'll see..

Flew to london this weekend took my film in hand luggage. Got scanned 3 times. Once at the paralympics. Took a load of shots waiting to see results probably fucked....

Nah, should be allright
"X-ray equipment used to inspect carry-on baggage uses a very low level of x-radiation that will not cause noticeable damage to most films. However, baggage that is checked (loaded on the planes as cargo) often goes through equipment with higher energy X rays."

Got an offer of a load of Kodachrome - is there any use for it?

Might be of note..
I'd heard people were using it as a B&W but I'm not sure anyone's managed to develop it in colour..propriety chemicals and all that...
(got a few rolls of it in the freezer as well that I never got round to shooting.. doh)

Couple from the test roll for my new (to me) 35mm f2 for the M7...Kodak BW400CN (not sure if I'm a fan, but meh)
and one from the M7 / Voigtlander 50mm combo on Portra 160

Portra is RADICAL
BW400CN - not so much. -

Yeah - liked the idea of using ICE with black and white. Should've just got tri-x and done it manually.

Yeah, it's not about the camera etc
But that mju is mega, looks sharper than my Nikon stuff
Has that "Salad Days of East Berlin" feel.
Here are two examples from 200
