  • Just read this, proper good photos

    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/04/magazine/ironworkers-of-the-sky.html?_r=2

(dunno if it's film or digital tbh, worth a look either way)

  • Every time i load a new roll, I take two photos of my feet to make sure it's wound on. I have never really done anything with these photos. I was bored the other day, so started a cool as fuck hipster blog with some of them.

    http://dont-look-down-on-me.tumblr.com/

I need to find a decent theme/wallpaper setting thing (whatever they are called).
Will post more at some point, but it involves looking through shit loads of old albums, which means i get distracted, and reminice, and forget what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing.

  • I really quite like that. Wouldn't mind a bit of the reminisce bit though

  • Today I bagged a brand new complete Jobo ATL 1500 film processor kit for £550. Never been used. Quite a bargain and I am well pleased.

  • oh wow.
kept wishfully browsing the ex-back-of-a-chemist's minilabs a few years ago, but what with not really properly living anywhere, it wasn't a very practical idea. also, you need to put a lot through those machines for it to be worth it.

^ that set-up looks nice and tidy.

  • while tidying up I just found yet another bag of plastic film boxes... does anywhere take these for recycling?

  • I donate mine to the local gardeners/allotments. They love them for storing seeds.

  • neat idea, I'll ask around.

  • got a 40mm for the bronica today, very bashed and brassed but optics are good, and sick wide on a 645, feels like about 21mm which is a real nice width.

also got a small packet of 6x9 glass plate negs, look to be 1920s germany/ bavaria mountain resort town. cannot wait to make prints from them. came from a deceased collector, who had an intetest in earlt photographers ( was prints of lots of well known pros of the time, but these are original negs and seem to be of pro quality. i might have sonething interesting here!

    nice!

  • Can anybody help me?

I've had an Epson 4870 scanner returned to me, after being thought as lost [a friend had it]. But Its come back with no power cables or ac adaptor. Does anybody know where I can get these, please?

Many thanks if you have any ideas.

  • it usually says next to the power inlet what it needs. Write that down, take a photo of where the power plug goes, and go to a Maplin, they should have an adapter that'll work

  • does it need a transformer?
Where the power enters it, there will be a symbol marking whether its center or outer positive and its preferred nutritional requirements. For most things you can get a universal transformer or specific single transformer from RS for <£10

  • sometimes amazon or maplin are your friend, but nothing obvious came up.
according to Epson's product page you need
    Voltage: AC100 - 120V, Frequency: 50 - 60hz, Power Consumption: 24W
but yeah you need to also know the size and polarity

  • Voltage: AC100 - 120V

... that doesn't sound right does it?

It doesn't actually say anything next to the socket. But its a Euroline plug socket. It needs a plug like this.

I'll post a pic in a few minutes.

wired up an IP camera as a make shift ghetto security cam for office the other day, when looking for a power supply it stated its dietry requirements were 240v 2amp.... i'm sorry, come again? 2amp for what is essentially a farking web cam on end of a network cable? GTFO.

And it was right, 10minutes later it was hotter than the average electric radiator. No idea what was actually inside it, but I guess just a big bugger off resistor, just for the sake of it.

no adapter needed there, just a power lead

  • Cheers! Good news.

  • yup, any old kettle lead. just about everyone has at least 5 of these things lurking somewhere in their house ;)

  • I am putting on my ninja suit. I'm off to rob da rich.

  • ... from the days when kettles had plugs rather than little power-supplying stands.

GA2G think back into the mists of time.. it never had a transformer did it?!

  • No.

  • I'm not sure whether this is allowed or if it is a shameful and outlawed act (hopefully not) but I currently have an FM2 up for sale in the classifieds if any of you are interested. Link is here. Cheers :)
