  • Dog is actually very interested in a pack of ewes just up the hill, and yes its backfocussed because he moved, and yes the film wasn't flat against the plate, so the focal plane is a bit, erm, interesting! (didn't remember to drop lens first, advance last).

First time I read that I read it as "Dog is actually very interested in a pack of Jews just up the hill."

  • yeah he likes them too ;)
Especially the baking variety. Today he dug his way out of the garden, went for a roam of the village, then settled on following a woman down the street, occasionally he would ride up on his back legs to get in her pockets for food. Next thing, shes at front door "your dog has attacked me, I'm calling the police blah blah blah"
Noisy neighbour steps out, intervenes, and corrects her "'no you stupid cow, he's after food in yaz pockets, he was just licking you and looking for attention, now get tey fook off me strat"
Some of the locals have a language of their own, but I couldn't have put it better myself lol

  • a few shots from over the last year or so, got a bunch developed finally (thanks BrickMan!), yet to go through them properly. some CD errors which I hope are overcomeable...
first 3 are M3, last 2 are Trip35 - plenty of lightleaks as I didn't notice the seals were in such poor condition, the one here kinda works I think :)

  • Nice hoefla, they've made me miss summer.

I just hung a couple of rolls up to dry, first ones I've put through the XA2.

  • Bought myself a little project. Needs a really good clean, hoping to learn a bit about disassembly/cleaning. First generation Super Ikonta I believe.

My girlfriend has this camera, be careful with the folding mechanism it is very fragile as I'm sure you've found. Takes beautiful pictures though!

Shots look ace, colours are bright as hell. Didn't realise you had an M3!
My mate found one, with 3 or 4 lenses and 2 correction spec's and a bunch of leica accessories in an auction for £10!!!!

If you get any read errors, its sometimes because the machine writes them a bit too fast. Get a free disc utility to get the pics off the disc, can't remember the one I used to use, but over the years there have literally only been 3 or 4 frames out of thousands that I haven't been able to recover.

  • James newrick ? Love his riding if it is

  • Afew of mine, a little series :

  • Yeah man, that's Jim - having his first ever fried mars bar that I thrust upon him while we were out on the piss in Glasgow.
Like those B&W too, what film/camera?

  • All are hp5 in a MJU II

  • ^ I got a MJU II for my girlfriend - it's a stunning little camera, I wish I had one for myself.

Anyone got a cheap 24mm lens with Olympus OM mount? There were two on ebay... one Zuiko on auction and one Miranda for £25 buy-it-now. I waited for the auction to end (end price was too high for me) and in the mean-time, some sod bought the cheap Miranda... balls.

Never bought from this guy but might be worth a shout,

  • ^ aha, cheers for that. I've never owned a camera with any automatic functions before so forgive this stupid question - since it's not an OM-system lens, will it work on aperture priority, or will I have to use manual control with it?

  • I could be wrong but I'd imagine it would work on aperture priority because the automation should start from when the meter in the camera gets a light reading, the camera will change the shutter speed to suit. Shouldn't matter what's infront of the meter when it takes it's reading. Only problem I could see would be if the meter were somehow blocked by part of the lens.

  • It'll work.

  • Quick question. The light meter on my rangefinder (Yashica lynx 14e) was designed to run on 2 x 1.35v mercury batteries. Obviously these aren't available any more, so I've ordered the alkaline replacements, which are 2 x 1.5v. Obviously this is going to affect the accuracy of the readings, but is there any way I can calibrate the camera to work properly with higher voltage batteries?
    Thanks,

With most older cameras I've just gone ahead and used 1.5V as a drop in replacement.

Just set the film speed half a stop lower than it should be.
(Although worth checking its not gonna mess up your particular camera).

It can damage the cells in the light meter permanently.*

*Says the guy who's been doing it in his OM-1 since forever.

Yup. What I was thinking of is how it would work with meter correctly with auto stopdown if it doesn't have the OM-system biasing lever? I'll find out soon enough since I've bought it now (forgot to ask the guy about the details). Anyway, if I have to use it in manual it's not a big deal.

  • ILFORD RC PAPER

Do you mean that genuine OM lenses stay wide open while you meter, focus and compose and only stop down when you actually fire the shutter?

I would have thought that would have been taken into consideration by the 3rd party lens manufacturer and that the lens would have what it needed to do this. Either that or the aperture will stop down as you move the ring, should still meter for aperture priority ok but the finder will darken as you stop the lens down.

    glossy

    i can post.

  • I'm a pearl guy sorry.

Good luck with gettin it sold.

  • Do you mean that genuine OM lenses stay wide open while you meter, focus and compose and only stop down when you actually fire the shutter?

Yep, they have a little biasing lever that sticks into the camera body which tells the meter which aperture will be used when you release the shutter, and the meter varies the shutter speed accordingly even though it's always metering through a fully open lens. The lens I bought doesn't have 'OM System' written on it so that's why I'm unsure whether it has the biasing lever. If it doesn't then I can just use it on manual stopdown like you say.

It's got the little lever so that's all good. Definitely a big difference over my old 28mm lens - looking forward to it!
