  • I think we're all in agreement.

Cheap processing, occasionally dodgy results, expensive per roll - Cinestill

Cheap stock, average processing cost, bit of extra legwork, consistent results - 500t

    Let's leave it at that.

  • I don’t know why there’s much fuss about Vision 3 / Cinestill. Portra and Ektar are the stills films that are spun of from the Vision 3 tech.

Anyhoo, less camera / film talk, more photos. It’s turning into the hipster gear thread

  • ^on this note heres my first double exposure :)

I know theyre a bit gimmicky but I might do a series of portraits with them to practice

Really love that the A1 has settings for literally everything. Thinking about investing in a 1.4 50mm as a lot of what I shoot is low light

  • This looks like an advert for marijuana.

  • Should I take that as a...compliment? I can assure you no marijuana was involved in taking this photo

  • Number two is really lovely @Ste_S !

  • There’s a chance here to own and support the publishing of a really nice book. Gatherers, shot (on film) in Cornwall.

  • Thats a bloody stealllll

Edit: Its not a steal but the way prices have went it is sorta now.

  • Some pictures from last year bike trip in Brittany to Ouessant.

  • They're really nice. #3 in particular is great

  • Just fired a roll through the new (to me) MV. Seemed fine while I was shooting it and shutter fires fine apart from looking a bit gack. But opening it up at the end of the roll everythings covered in dust/god knows what? It must be something to do with the film as the insides were clean when I put the roll in. Honestly never seen anything like this before

  • Blimey, has someone been on the gak on the Kodak production line ?

The white plastic take up spool isn't disintegrating is it ? Looks ok on the photo though..

How does the pressure plate / inside of the back door look ?

  • Wow!
Never seen something like that either.

Shutter curtain also looks a bit bumped, my MV actually looked the same (but worked just fine)..

  • Look like you put the wrong one... I think you should stop keep cocaine in film canisters.

  • The film canisters usually have a light-proof (ish) seal on them so even if that stuff was inside the canister I can't see it having come out with the film. Is the stuff also in the mirror box on the other side of the shutter?

  • Might be that I'll investigate. Pressure plate was loose when it arrived but I clipped it back into place. Camera really isnt in the best condition but it fires and the listing said its working condition so not sure

@mrboulard cocaine and what looks like ground up baccy, very strange

@cagimaha thats what I thought. There was a small amount sticking out of the entrance to the canister but could have been dragged in when I was rolling the film back

I'll wait to get this roll developed before trying the camera again

  • Just checked. Theres nothing on the other side of the shutter and the take up spool isn't disintegrating (that I can see). Gave the whole thing a general wipe/blow and it looks very clean now. The film advance level did feel a bit 'grindy' when I was shooting. It feels smooth now theres no film in the camera, this could be something to do with it?

If I remember rightly that's normal. I have a ME Super that's similar

  • Perhaps it was the only mirror available?

  • It’s not lightseal or mirror bumper foam breaking down is it? I think that shit is usually black.

  • #3 is fantastic.

  • I thought that initially, but like you say, it's black (for obvious reasons) and typically sticky/gunky instead of dry and dusty looking like that

  • Seals all look fine. As do the bumpers. Im lost tbh. Only thing I can think of is a bit of packing foam got caught in the bottom of the canister and got slowly broken down as I rolled the film through ?
