Nan Goldin
I'm not familiar with her / her work.
Does she take pictures of display dummies as well, or what is the connection you're thinking of? -
• #16486
Her career has spanned so much time (and content) it’s difficult to summarise an easy direct connection. Kinda easier to just say her name and hope you got it. It was thematic as much as stylistic, what I saw, but I’d have to go through the bookshelf to try and find the right body of work and that could take ages.

I was just wondering whether it was a lucky shot or one you set up.
-
• #16488
Well I "set it up" in the sense that I've walked past that place before, realizing I better come back with a polarizing filter because otherwise it's just 90% reflections, so I did that.
You do realize this isn't a real person, right? -

Of course, but that's one of the things that makes it good.
Thanks for the explanation.

Ok then by your definition it was a "lucky shot".
I did not dress that display dummy myself / stage it - it's always like that, behind the window of a bar. -

A bit of both--you took the right equipment to get the shot whose potential you saw.

I think pretty much everything in photography is a lucky shot in the end.
You narrow down the odds by actually being there, and having the skill to notice the moment and take the shot

Needs to be played during Henri Cartier-Bresson (The Musical) where he explains the decisive moment

Apols for a bit of a dredge, but I'm looking for a new lab to try as I've lost a bit of trust in my local. Is DS's development any good - especially with push processing?
