  • and a bus driver made it on the list. How does that work?

  • maybe he was a really good *bus driver

    • 100+ kills
  • Just thought anyone thinking about this bike might like to take advantage of a big saving:

  • I think there are better options at the 550 mark

Personally I think you're right but it's got a good frame by all accounts, just not so great components.

  • Capo reminds me of the Willier. My local Evans had one, didn't like it.

  • Just been into Evans to get a quote for an insurance claim on an old bike that got nicked. Went OTP for the quote as I thought the insurance company would like that. The robbing bastards want to charge £15 for the fucking privilege!! All I need is a few words scribbled on a piece of letter headed note paper which I can see sat on the fucking counter in front of me! Unreal.

  • Go back in, steal headed paper, spit in Evans employee's eye, walk out! Fixed

  • Why use Evans for this?

  • Take your custom elsewhere then. Support your LBS.

  • They have no guarantee you are going to come back and spend money with their shop and it will take at least 20 minutes for them to type and print, address and envelope your quote.
Insurance companies will not except scribbles.

    Ten pounds seems fairer.

The staff dont make up the price's. Dont be a prick.

  • Why use Evans for this?

Yeah I thought the insurance company would go for an Evans quote as they are a well known chain.
I have contacted my insurance company and they will accept a print out off the web of the relevant info. Public 1 - Evans 0.

I thought the guy was joking when he told me and we had a bit of a laugh about it - went through the usual "I know you don't make the rules but you have to admit it's taking the piss" routine with him. C'est la Vie.

Chill Out! It was meant in jest, wasn't an instruction!

    hahaha

"My name is hillbilly and I first tried Evans when I was 14. I've been a regular there ever since. I don't know why I go, I think it's the buzz I get each month when the envelope with my name on it arrives. I really want to quit but the withdrawals are horrible. Help me."

    :-)

Sure, especially in this day and age where people only shop by lowest price and not by service quality. But It's not a huge hastle for them to do it gratis and it might encourage the customer to bring the trade there, whereas now they've tried to charge him for having his bike stolen as it were they've guarenteed his non custom.

  • Jim you could make a few bob dealing knocked off headed paper - like hooky prescription pads in the good ol' days.

  • the sad thing is +imMe they probably don't give a shit, because they know they aren't relying on returning business.

  • Chill Out! It was meant in jest, wasn't an instruction!

Sorry may have been a little sharp there. But we do get people coming in doing this type of shit. Had a bloke the other week come in and smash up a computer, because he'd have to wait to get his chain fixed.

    hahaha

I love the excitment at the end of the month. "How much have they payed me!!! Ah not much". you've got to love it.

  • My local LBS charged a fiver. Just took a look at the bike (in pieces) in my boot and told me the write-off note would be ready the next day. I also claimed the fiver back from the insurance company.

I'll do you one for £15. Hows that sound? Lol

  • Yep, I think it's tricky for anyone to get loyalty/return business nowadays, and it can't be getting any easier with the current price hikes that seem to be happening everywhere. Even if they could my brief foray into high street retail leads me to believe all the staff think of thier job as temporary so have less loyalty to the business.

  • Sorry may have been a little sharp there.

Luv and Hugs all round! :)

When I was doing shop floor work we used to have an iron bar under the counter, the store was on Bond Street! Only ever used it twice and that was only to slam it down on the counter. Intent to use was enough.

Worst I found were Taxi Drivers, no kidding. You could recognise them cause they'd be stupid enough to wear their badge around their necks. Arrogant so and so's throwing their cash around.

  • If it's an OTP, can't you just point your insurance company to the relevant page on the Evans web site? I've done this on an insurance claim before, not with a bike, but same principle.
