conti gatorskins. only tire worth owning for the city.

i can't understand people that give gatorskins a hard time. gatorskins... ...are head and shoulders above everything else. ...have beautiful looking sidewalls. ...have flawless construction. ....break in nicely. ...last forever. ...never punctuur

i really think that most people who think there's a better tire for the city than gotorskins just haven't owned a set of them.

i haven't owned every tire out there, but of what i have owned contis are clearly the best.

i will say i've never been on a set of Vit Rubinos.... and they have my attention.

anyone have any particularly good or bad experience with them?

I have owned Gatorskins and got punctures. I also don't like the skinwalls.

Gatorskins are awesome apart from the sidewalls, which are shite... Gonna try some of the hardcase jobbies in time... They do tear up pretty easy tho'... We could go on, and on... Oh, we have... For 10 pages, whoulda thunk?

I'll ride any high end road/city tyre on the front if it's 23c and I get it for a good price.

Vittoria Randonneur 28 on the rear.

Not that fussy. I don't ride tyres looking for every imperfection so I can find the ultimate city tyre.

I ride it til it either breaks or injures me.

i run through gatorskinks faster then i manage to cough up the money they cost. Tey are not bad, i like them, but wouldn't say they are way up there. they defo do puncture and that rate goes up through the roof when the rubber gets a bit thin - kevlar_blah_snodder_grumble and whotnot protection belts - pah! fuck me sideways and call me franco - that stuff isn't worth much.
when i take a look to what went right through down to the innertube - fucking chewing gum pieces, i'm telling'ya!

plus, on the rear they loose rubber faster than i loose my hair, good tyre for lazy buggers and non_skidz, imho but

Gatorskins are crap, mainly because of the sidewall.

I got a Maxxis refuse through the post today. Looking forward to trying that out. I'm still very impressed with the Durano Plus though, especially in the we. Cracking tyre.

Reen: Try the Soma Everwear. Its the most skid resistant tyre I have found, and comes in 23c.

Some people have tyres last for age, while other kept getting punctured with the very same tyres, and it's usually just luck and/or riding style/installation.

I had conti ultra sport on the old Bianchi, I'm aware it's a shitty tyres with no puncture protection at all and way too thin, but for some strange reason (and at the time I wasn't that much of an experience cyclist) it managed to survived 6 months in London.
