  • What you're imagining has already been stated by myself in the nursery thread, but I'm sure you knew that.

Regarding the attempting to be humourous in as lame a fashion as possible..... I can only seriously and humbly apologize; perfectly conscious of my terrible mistake.

  • As flat-resistant tyres go, I've been very fond of the Vittoria Pave Evo CG's, clinchers or tubulars. They are hard to flat, and the 320tpi casing makes them feel wonderful.

  • I've also been using the Halo Berlin for about a month, and have to agree with GA2G's review. I'd add that they are great for skidding on too

I was surprised by how quick and comfortable they felt, especially compared to the slick Stelvios I was using before. I would definitely recommend them for the rear, and will be ordering another one for my other bike...

  • I hear a lot of flak for the Continental Ultra Sport, just interested to hear what people think are so bad about em?

  • one - they're cheap (does not necessary mean bad), but they have no puncture protection at all, the sidwall is the thinnest I've ever seen insofar, the grip is lacklustre compare to a Gatorskins.

For the money, you might as well get a Gatorskins, it may not be the best tyres in the world, but it's reasonably decent.

  • halo twin rail courier berlin

    here for £19.99 (+ £1 postage)

  • I hear a lot of flak for the Continental Ultra Sport, just interested to hear what people think are so bad about em?

You've heard a lot of flak about them and you wan't more? How curious.

  • nobody mentioned it so far, does this halo berlin one have a steal or by any chance a foldable bead?

  • Ultra Sports are shit... Can we ban GA2G now, hippy? Y'know, now you've got mod privs an' shit? Do it...

  • bans everyone who's used Conti

realises too late that includes himself

  • The hardcase Gators do look pretty sweet tho'... i should fuck off to bed...

  • does anyone on here actually runs one of those dutch perfect road tyres?
they seem adequately proofed and are available in 23c <me likey!

and seem to work alright. though a 5er more than the halos.

  • I have on my, surprise surprise, dutch bike.

it's grip are lacklustre, and the tyres look weak and cheap compare to your high end expensive Marathon Plus, but I've never gotten a puncture on it and it was a pretty heavy bike that been used all winter.

  • d'you used the 23c or the more marathon like 28c version, ed?

  • I has no idea, I don't bother with that sort of thing on the dutch bike, all I remember is that the tyres were called Dutch Perfect when I was pumping it up with air.

  • well i am, as don't ride a tank ;)
    28c wouldn't fit.

  • Running the dutch perfect tyres on 50 dahons. They weigh a ton, even in small sizes, and can be a pig to fit. Some just pop on the rim with only minimal grunting and swearing, some need levers and plenty of swearing.

  • nobody mentioned it so far, does this halo berlin one have a steal or by any chance a foldable bead?

yes reeen, i found a review stating steel bead.

    thankyouverymuch

    you're welcome!

i wouldn't touch a dahon with gloves, why on earth would you run 50? is that a rental thing or sth? anyway, thanks!
so steel bead is a nogo and skidding a bit is a must, so that a £26+ husk at the back seems more than unlikely.
i think, i narrowed my 'faves by the facts™' down to 3 or 4. euphoria decreases, where likeliness due to the price drop increases down the list:

    1. panaracer ribmo, folding 23c, £30,-
    2. schwalbe durano plus, folding 23c, £30,-
    3. Vittoria Rubino Pro folding, 120 tpi, 23c from £16

or i try source them maxxis refuse and stop being to anal about it all

    1. maxxis re-fuse, 23c folding from £18,-

...but out of stock again at chainreaction.

  • i wouldn't touch a dahon with gloves, why on earth would you run 50? is that a rental thing or sth? anyway, thanks!
Well, it's a guided tour business a friend runs -- I had to change all the tyres...not fun. Great bikes if you need massive adjustability from huge to tiny, though. 6'4" - 4'4", with two quick releases.

I am convinced these tyres feel slow. I recently put some 35c folding Ribmos on in place of 35c Randonneur folding and it definitely feels slower. I should have done a rolling test thing but can't be bothered now!
    Anyone else use Ribmo's?

  • i'd be more intrigued to hear, how much diff the 23c would feel/perform. doubt it'll be that much of an annoyance but fear it might be. i am used to rather fast gatorskins and gp4000's

  • Is anybody riding these - are they really worth £40 a pop?

if by 'pop' you mean 'swift kick to the cunt' then yes. thats about how much they're worth.

  • goddamit. i hate this process. "gatorskins are too fucking expensive" google. "shite" search. read. "crap" look. "wtf is that even a tire?" google. eat some ice cream. "yep all shite compared to them.... but too expensive." search. read. google. "wtf is with hippy and his conti shit?" read. "Ok here we go" 2. add. to. cart. fuck. me. click. good for another year.
