Specialized Roubaix are very good. I didn't buy them because they're so expensive, but they were definitely near the top of my considerations.

I know so does TFG but 1. they are not walkable distance from work (TFG is)

Basically I am looking to upgrade the tyres on my ss cycle.
I have seen a few posts of people's bikes with wider/chunkier looking tyres on and think that would suit my riding style.
Where I live is full of kerbs and pot holes. After about 10mi of riding the 700 x 23 tyres I have currently seem a bit feeble. I feel like if I hit too deep a hole, or a speed bump to quick my wheel is going to collapse (tyres are inflated to correct psi so i think that's not the issue).
So what I am wondering (for example) is, would I be able to run a 700 x 32 schwalbe marathon supreme road city on the rims I currently have?
Frame/brake clearance will be fine just wondering about implications with the rim due to the extra width of the tyre.
Thanks.
28c Schwalbe Marathon Plus.

yup, i had tears in my eyes. 20 miles from home , soaking wet , stuck in a bus shelter , i hear that hissing noise.

Are you sure we're talking about the same one? cause it sound like he's talking about the Roubaix Pro rather than the more expensive Elite, of which the Pro cost £20-25.

I'm a big fan of veloflex and run the corsa's on my colnago road bike. I really rate them! I think they ride very well, predictable in wet, good grip and roll nicely, one of the most comfortable 22 tyres i've ridden.
Yes, you're not going to have the best protection, but considering how light they are, they aren't bad. The only puncture i had with them was from a shard of glass that would've cut through the best.
They certainly aren't gonna last long of you're skidding, but the quality of ride is great. While we're here, has anyone used the Rivendell Ruffy Tuffy? Looking for a comfy tan wall to put some miles on and they "sound" like a good option.

cheers feller, after going from duranos to a 320 tpi with butyl tubes and noticing a huge difference in fatigue in my legs after 3 hours of pedalling , im gonna get 3 and stick a spare under my saddle with a co2 canister and some tools .
90+ quid really seems a lot to spend on tyres, but , i definatly noticed a massive difference in rolling resistance and comfort.

After muho thinking and perusing of this thread and t'others, I've decided on the Rubino Pros (the cost/durability co-efficient seemed optimal). But now I have another choice to make: Rubino Pro standard tread or the slicks ones?
I've been saddled with Pasalas for the last six months (rookie error, wanted white tyres, they were cheap) and they're anly just starting to toll fast as they slicken up, but for the replacements I want something fast rolling from the off

Just get the slicks. The light tread pattern allows them to better deform around the inperfections of the road surface, for grip. But slicks rough up enough after a few miles to have the same effect anyway IMHO.
Of course the tread also clear water to aviod aqua-planing ....../trollface

I just forked out for a pair - well, you only live once. I'll write up a little review somewhere and let you know. Or alternatively, I'll sell them to you once I realise that I really can't squeeze 28cs into my frame.

Just replaced a pair of 2+ plus year, used every day 28c Randonneurs on the commuter without a single puncture the entire time. Fantastic. The rear had a pretty much square profile and a thick red line all the way round. Colour me impressed.
As discussed much upthread I failed to source the 25c variety I needed to replace them so finally exasperated and in need of some bikefixin' to fill a bored Saturday afternoon I went with whatever was in stock in my LBS which turned out to be Schawlbe Durano Plus (the ones with the goofy London logo on them).
So far I can report that they go on fine, feel quite sluggish and look totally bent. Actually quite annoyed with myself for buying them. They really do look sh*t. Pretty sure I'll be swapping them out as soon as i've got a spare afternoon.
I have an unused set of 28c Armadillos sat idle if anyone wants to make me an offer. I didn't have the mudguard clearance for them. Bummer.

Rubino Pro slicks it is then, need to source them in 25c now. Which I consulted the good folk here at LFGSS before condemning myself to 6 months of trudging along on those Pasalas. Only wanted them for the colour but there's no point buying something pretty if it's going to spend the majority of its time in the gutter. Lesson learned

Amerityre are a fairly new tubeless polyurathan foam tyre. They are similar to the older Greentyre but seem to be much better quality see this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28slWsd_fG4"]Review:
Amerityre flat-free (tubeless) tire technology - YouTube[/ame]
Incidently I also used a similar tyre of tyre called a Greentyre on an old three speed bikes for several months with no problems whatsoever. Maybe these tyres are not so good on cheap alloy wheels, but they performed quite well on my old steel rimmed three speed bike wheels. But as I said the Amerityre is supposed to be far superior. -

Bags of room, I can even get SKS mudguards in there. Bit weird on a race frame that doesn't have eyelets...
Anyway. Initial ride - the Ruffy Tuffys feel good - they have less vibration and are slightly more comfortable than the 28c Randonneurs that were on it. Using 70psi on the front and 80 on the rear. And they look great and apparently last forever (at least 3k miles). I can't tell how grippy they are since they're new. Are they worth £80 a pair? Probably not, since you can get 28c Paselas (about the same weight, also have a kelvar puncture belt, and are also gumwall) at half the price, although the Paselas do have silly tread on them... I haven't ridden Paselas so I can't really comment.

glad they fit saidthroughgrittedteeth
I was hoping to have picked up a pair myself by now, but been a bit distracted, no skint, that's the one. And now about to cycle uk finest b roads, towpaths and tracks on some open paves. Tough as hell for the weight, but probably not the same comfort level as the Ruffy Tuffy's.
Be interested to hear how you get on, but still would be happy to give them a go I reckon
Ooi, what rims do you have them on? -

Just tried to get a replacement of the excellent Michelin Krylion Carbon tyres that I've been using for ages with no probs. Unfotunately they have been discontinued. They're now very hard to find for less than £30. Apparently have been replaced by the Pro 4 Race Endurance.
SOS tyre help: the diamante has worn out with lots of cuts and scrapes, had 2 punctures in less than 12 hours.
The issue is I cant find diamante to replace this one either in any of the evans or CS the options I have are specialized, bontrager and continental (bleurgh).
I liked the Specialized Roubaix, any opinion on that?
Or can anyone tell me where I can get Diamante within walking distance from my office (W1W 7NR)?
