Just moved to the Toon. Well up for meeting up with some fellow fixers. Need to get some local knowledge asap. Nearly ended up on the motorway... twice last night. And Byker is not the utopia that I was led to believe from 90's CBBC show.

Right I think the plan is to meet at Monument at 2.
What bike do you ride Gman?
-
• #515
We rode the motorway really early one morning last year and it was quality but not recommended normally! See yous all tomorrow.
Paul, you still out there? Fancy a blast?

Kona Paddywagon with minor mods - cut off and flipped bars and a sugino crank set (48 16). See you at monument!

Hi everyone, I just moved up to Newcastle. I'm here for four months, doing a newspaper training course at the Chronicle offices. I don't have my bike up here yet, but I'd be up for a beer if you guys have East/West/North/South drinks like back in London?
-
• #519
Hi Sparky, we're not good on the drinks front - all about the riding... but I'm up for changing that this year. Think there's a few people new to the forum here who are just in the process of sorting out bikes so would be an ideal opportunity to get everyone together.
I can only do Wednesday night this week. Anyone else?

i get out of lectures around 530, and will require remedial directions to find the venue on foot.
was checking in to see if there was a ride coming up this weekend, especially if the nice weather sticks around. wouldn't mind riding around whitley bay or beyond sometime.
-
• #521
yeah im free wed and the weekend, any ideas on where to go? priya you got any bike parts sorted yet?
-
• #522
still bike fail on this end. lectures and labs keep me tied up during rcyb hours, so i havent been able to drop in and grab a frame. the weekend ride would be with the gracious loan of your polo bike. ; )
this is my first full weekend in town, so hopefully i'll be able to cobble something together soon. also, stipend hasn't arrived yet, so its been a tightrope of Books vs bicycle, in anticipation of the cashes.

Ok kids - would recommend the Cluny for the inaugral Newcastle Drinks tomorrow as it's more bike-parking-friendly but it's out of town and not ideal for newcomers/people without transport. So - best place in town as far as I'm concerned is the Forth which is near the station. Can meet people at station if that's easiest. I'll be able to get there for 7:30ish. Can eat in there. Sound ok to everyone?

sounds good, i'll try and scrape a few pounds together. will inform pete tomorrow too.

i promised the wife i would buy her a happy meal tomorow night. should be able to make it down after shes got bored with the toy though.
Yeah, liking the bike mate. Pretty sure I can do weds too for a bit of a blast.
Around the uni and student bits it's all flat, perfect riding. I run 48:17 in the summer although been a winter pussy lately and been on 48:20 - soon to change back after a few more miles in the legs.
