  • Gonna try and have an evening ride around 7 one night next week. Maybe some more people may be interested? Not too far just around town or wherever.

    When is best for everyone?

  • yo sorry i missed last night,

  • Yeah 7 tues is cool, whats up with your chain matt?

  • It's bent. Skid, chain stretch, comes off, gets stuck between sprocket and spokes fail.

  • ill bring a chain tonight

  • Cheers mate. Few people still up for some kind a brief-ish ride shebang tonight then?

  • pete's not coming anymore, tom you still gonna be there?

rode to work in the snow this morning, was great fun slipping sideways.

although my chain ring is quickly being detached from my cranks
    its all good

  • Spotted last night outside student union - white Raleigh conversion locked up next to mine. Didn't get chance for a very long look though. Anyone off here?

  • Was it fixed? I saw someone riding a white conversion on the quayside ages ago.

  • hi just thought i'd post cuz im not on this page.
    *and I cant have that!*

  • busy at work eh pete?

  • buzy doing nothing

  • hi there.
was excited to see people are riding fixed in newcastle. i'm moving there from the states in a few weeks. have been a (fairweather)courier/mechanic/rider/enthusiast for a few years now (philadelphia, chicago, washington DC). Do you travel elsewhere for events and alleycats? are there are enough events to warrant shipping my loyal steeds, or is there somewhere in town to buy a new budget ride to kick around on for the year?
    (my primary steed)

that picture is about 3 years old. she's been on a crash-and-upgrade scheme. thus, stem/headset/fork have changed, but the look has not. (is a converted px-10, powdercoated in '06 to stop body rust).
cheers, and perhaps, see you soon.

  • Hey, there are a few riders in Newcastle now but there's not a lot happening at the moment due to the horrific weather. There are usually regular rides in the summer.

As for buying a bike over here, there are 3 or 4 people on here that work in bike shops around the city so would be easy to build up a cheap bike for the year!

  • Yeah, exactly what Phil said, would be simple enough to build up a conversion over here. Sure we can all chip in with some advice on getting hold of parts.

And with a bit of luck (and daylight), we'll be back to doing some rides and polo in the spring.

  • horrific weather, you say? around this time last week, i thought i was moving to a small island in the caribbean. when those plans changed, i got extra excited for first-world riding conditions- completely forsaking weather. ice? snow? blustery cold? what am i packing for? and thanks for the heads-up on mechanics in the area. much obliged, excited to piece together a franken-whip with your help.

  • Well, nothing you can't ride in. Like today, it's usually not raining, but the ground is always wet, been around 5°C today. We get the occasional heavy shower and bit of snow. Its mostly just the cold that pisses me off! I also spent an hour today removing rust from my bikes, snow + salt on the roads is not fun.
