It is a bit scary on your own, yes.
but a lot quicker and less messy.

I don't understand Tommy.
This feels like teasing. [/Balki]

Everyone should ride RP at night. You need very good lights. Or a full moon.
+1, particularly to good lights.
Sometimes they seem to have events at the house on the West side, so you ocasionally encounter cars between there and the Richmond gate (and half-barriers across the road to keep the cars to that section). One shone full beam at me once. There was a slight hump in the road between us, so the ground around me was in shadow and i could see nothing but his lights. Luckily managed to slow down quite a lot before colliding with one of the little posts along the edge of the road.
Other than that i haven't found it scary at all, but then i've always liked the dark.
Oh, and watch out for the skiers. There is a regular who is usually well illuminated, but i have narrowly missed running into a couple of others.

I roll with the TNRC approved Hope vision 1

The HopeV1 is a serious threat to my bacon thrills

• #32
Rashers, smoked or unsmoked?
-
• #33
Unsmoked.

just back from a loop out round the pk and back- lovely at night with the snow coming down - always seems a few degrees colder as soon as you enter the park at night- makes you skin creep a bit and you ride hard as f**% to get back to lit roads before they get you.
-
• #35
^exactly.

• #36
never get off the bike... -

I cycled through last night. Very cold and windy, got a bit of a shock from some deer by the side of the road. There were one or two nutters without any lights as well??
-

Any reason (other than sanity) not to spend a night riding around the park? I want to test my TT light setup.
I've been in the park after dark once before and the deer were a bit mental but probably still more sane than some of the drivers I've encountered.
Is it possible to park a car in there and leave it there overnight or will they ticket/tow it?
-
• #41
nah, they have wardens patrolling re: the car
what time you heading out? You can leave it outside mine after 7 and sundays free parking - If you're testing then the cars will be allowed in the park til about 9.30. It gets quite cold there late at night [much more so than in town] so take layers if you're doing a long stint

Plenty of places near the gates to park though, at night. Just don't leave valuables anywhere near the Danebury est!
-
• #43
Was thinking about doing 12 hours in there.
Will leave bottles, bars and gels and clothes in the car. -
• #44
Let me know when, I'll come and do a lap in the opposite direction and heckle.
-
• #45
Does the Cult of Trackies permit you to ride outside?
-
• #46
Only at night...
-
• #47
I used to go at 1am and turn off my lights and sprint round listening to joy division
before it was cool
-
• #48
Joy Division or riding in RP?
-
• #49
the music and the ride fused into one all-encompassing sensory experience, man

before it was cool
neither do you.
