Ahmfae Paisley, and in 1994 moved to London (Putney) rode fixed mostly.
Recently moved to Dubai. Won't ride fixed at all, in that cycling = possible injury, fixed cycling = certain death.
The difference is people swerving as they look round with that "is he really on fixed?".Individual cyclists are rare, but there's a weekly group ride with Landcruiser in attendance, bedecked with ornage flashy lights, warning signs etc. Very pro.
I sort of miss the commute, but not the weather or the money :-)

Really? Awesome. Any more info? My lady loves ripper-history. We live on the tour route right now.
And yeah, 'proper Londoners' were born here. ;)
Yeah, Catherine Eddows. My Mum was an Eddows but changed when her Mum(my Nan) got re-married.
I've read loadsa shit on it/JTR.
Apparently she was an alcoholic prossy like most of the victims. She was locked up one afternoon/night for being drunk and disorderly. She was released later that night after she'd calmed down, this was to prove fateful as on the way home she picked up Jack. She was found with her uterus and kidney ripped out in Mitre Sq later in the morning.
My Mrs did the walk last week funnily enough but I was away, she said it was really interesting. I'll do it one day -

Faux-londonengers - dropping the glottal stops won't fool me. I can smell the suburbs on you.
Don't know if this has been addressed elsewhere in the thread...
The phonetician in me is screaming. I'm assuming you're talking about Faux-Londonengers dropping their 't's and substituting them with glottal stops. Dropping the glottal stop would result in a diphthong contructed of the vowel sounds which would be next to each other.
I am a firm supporter of glottal stops, if only to stop the pernicious spread of US-inflected speech, and its rubbish smug-sounding alveolar tap/flap eg. "riding a bike is bedder* for the environment than driving a car."
*an alveolar tap/flap is not the same thing as 'dd', but this is the best approximation in non-IPA orthography.
Time for lunch.

I have moved! Now live dangerously close to The Stonemasons Arms - I'm glad of the move to the Ship for W.London beers as it gives me a slightly longer ride over.
Was weird doing a (slightly) different commute this morning.
So, yes, I think that qualifies me for living in London plus I ride fixed 80% of time, geared at weekends.

The zoom button fixes that. But to save you the effort, I've reverted to the boring blue dot thing.
Also - Canadian prairies born (to an English [Withshire] mother); Toronto and Montreal raised; E1 currently.

Lived in London for 10 odd years, and now back in my home town of Wolverhampton.
I saw someone at Wolverhampton station with a Langster today. They might of also had facial hair.
Should I take this as a sign of the fixed gear apocalypse ? -

Lived in SW18 for 3 years; now living in BS1. Ride fixed every day and a Bianchi Via Nirone when not. Likely will be adding a DeVinci MTB for the trails around here.
Was at HH on Saturday - track cycling and ripping around London are things I sure miss... -

I do believe that most streets count away from charings X, and some count up on one side of the street and down on the other, the latter is long, old streets.
It's either from Charing X (the actual Charing X, not the railway station) or from the Bank of England. It's just a rule of thumb, and doesn't really work some of the time.

I am! I am!
Actually no I'm not, and I don't live there either.
LFGSS came up in a Google search when I was after some technical info, and aside from my unhelpful/incorrect/unfunny posts I still use it for a resource.
It could be Aberdeen or Coventry FGSS and I'd still use it. -

Born in Ohio USA, time riding in NYC, now in SE5 Brixton. Riding fixed with no brakes 100% for two years. Although, perhaps my legal inability to vote for mayor excludes me from this exclusive group?
I've lived in London the past 24 years. I live in SW6 now, but previously W9, W10, SW18, and SE6.
