Thanks. It takes fucking ages to get an answer round here sometimes.

And you can buy these Fixies in a hipster fit? Am I understanding things correctly?

  • I ruv my Arrospok, it's cheap-ish (if you buy direct) and cheerful silliness... However, it is insanely heavy and more akin to a sail than a bicycle wheel in crosswinds... I'm gonna chuck my CXP33/Phil back on this week, I'll be pullin' wheelies LAMF...

  • They don't buckle, and it is rare to see an Arrospok break (there is that one image of a snapped Aspok floating around the internet, but it had a truck reverse over it) in this respect they are very strong, good for doing tricks where you land heavily on your front wheel.

I actually know a guy that lives in San Mateo (just south of SF) that's broken three of the things. All from doing crazy trick stuff on them. I keep telling him to just buy a trials bike, but he won't listen.

He's a big fella, too. But he has (if you'll excuse the pun) exploded the myth of the Spok's indestructibility. In all three cases, he's sent the wheels back under warranty and gotten replacements for around $100, but I'm sure at some point Aerospoke are just going to write him a letter along the lines of 'Sorry, mate, you're having a bubble - here's your broken wheel back'.

I'd like to add my voice to the clamour of those saying that a HED/Spin/Trispoke is the way to go. Or a Mavic IO if you're really rich.

Don't forget Nimble ! Their crosswind is the best trispoke out there in a . . . you guessed it . . . crosswind + plus it is probably the lightest of the trispokes and they paint it up all fancy colours like ! (if you ask them nicely)

  • :D

    nicely done !

  • That photoshop is a classic! it actually looks as though he is in mid trick about to do a skid with one leg over the bars.
    Well done!

  • Bit of advice...
don't OD on pain killers!! :p
paracetamol: 36 of them will kill you..in about 3 days... so bad idea in case you change your mind and there is nothing you can do because liver failure has set in....
Aspirin: As far as I know... i doesn't kill you but give you really bad stomach ulcer.. you will be foaming in the mouth...

i have seen aspirin kill people before - and a 75mg tablet at that, too. fully agree with the comments about paracetamol, too, although the number needed varies hugely between people and it can be as few as 8 tablets that kill, or maybe more than 40... of course, the higher the number, the greater the chance, hence why paracetamol packages contain far few tablets nowadays (in the states you can get packs with 100 or even 500 tablets of "acetaminophen" as it's called over there).

  • Already been done tynan :)

  • noiiiice!

  • Already been done tynan :)

we have a new photoshop champion!

    mad skilz!

  • so what do you guys think about langsters then?

nice one. welcome to the circus.

  • Dude, I know you're not the first, and you won't be the last, but when you say you've had a search around the forum, how deep and involved was that search, there are many threads on here about aerospokes, arrospoks, and you seem to have conveniently missed reading any of them. If you had read them, you'd know the feelings both good and bad that the arrospok engenders.
There are also plenty of threads about bike shops, good bad, indifferent as well as online stores that people use.
We'll help you, if you help us, do some of the leg work and ask a question which isn't open ended, and which we can answer if you've been on fixed gear gallery, or velospace, people who post up their bikes will tell you what parts are on them, it ain't that hard. From there you can find distributors, prices, pros and con's and make a decision about whether you want them enough.
Signing up, asking oft asked questions and then getting your nose put out of joint when you get sarcastic answers isn't the best way to start a relationship. If you have been searching this forum you'll have noticed that its not a place for the faint of heart or those with thin skins. We're all lovely people when you get to know us, but starting out with an inane question about a piece of kit that divides opinion isn't generally the best way to start out.
I could find the aforementioned threads for you, but where would be the fun in that.

In the words of Ricky Roma in Glengarry Glen Ross: "You never open your mouth till you know what the shot is."

  • surely not, they look awful. i mean really awful. years ago i went out with a girl who had a £100 catalogue bike which was yellow and had blue plastic 5 spoke wheels. sparrowpokes just remind me of that. .

does she work at sainsburys vauxhall? or did the thief? hmmm
