  • yea i can kind of see why. i think its becuase they are different. but those in particular seem to annoy me more than they should. perhaps im being a liitle bit over the top with the puke bit but i think i just like metal spokes and good composite wheels too much. and that girls yellow and blue bike back in the day just didnt fit in with the good mountain bike stuff in my shed at the time. i think it left a dirty stain on my mind. its funny cos it got stolen. the night they broke in was the night i decided to put my bikes in the house after we went riding. (she rode one of mine, not even her own thats how bad it was). almost like it was planned... hmm

  • the grey omegas on that page..

  • maybe,

I'm just a sucker for these and skinwall tubs.

    [tell no-one]

Yes, I can see where you are going, spray them up with some cool rainbow colours and glue some hundreds and thousands to them and I think we have something I can buy into.

  • LOL

Who needs therapy when you can talk about Vintage Campag fetishes and Ex-girlfriends here?

  • Yeah glitter's all good.

  • alternate colour spokes?

    ^genious?^

  • and get suicide advice too. dont forget that.

  • and on that note i am going to bed. i have far too many important things to procrastinate aroung tomorrow to stay here all night conversating with an ever decreasing number of people. so i bid you all goodnight.

  • here I have some new spoke patterns for dogballs to try out.

  • laters

  • please someone do a photochop of a monospoke...?!

  • hoverbike?

  • i can't believe newcomers get ripped so badly. but it's just too easy. i'm sorry. what is it, one a day at the moment?

  • I ride an arrospok and I can confirm they are shit. Heavy, not true, etc. Sometimes people just feel like some shit. I also get the urge to eat at Mc Donalds occasionally. Especially when I am in Paris and everyone goes on about novelle cuisine...

  • yea i can kind of see why. i think its becuase they are different.

    Bingo !

    'Different'

I think one point that is rarely mentioned in regard to the whole 'fixie' scene is the conspicuous and wholesale rejection of the prior road bike status quo.

People's desire to be relevant or 'cool' (for what of a better word) often involves the overthrow of the past. As road cycling slips into its lycra and £8000 mid-life crisis carbon fibre, what better way of sticking two fingers up to all that than by painting your wheels orange and green, putting an old BMX saddle on a track frame running MTB bars cut down way beyond what they were designed for.

There is certainly an element of the punk ethos going on there, just like one of punk's main drives was less the music and more the rejection of the tired musical establishment status quo, so I suppose arguing against either the look or the practicality of a white front Aerospoke is like arguing against the look or practicality of bondage trousers.

I, personally am waiting for cycling to reach the new romantic stage as I have bought up a job lot of handle bar ruffles.

  • what are they like in the wind?

  • Yeah glitter's all good.

    Glitter is fucking ACE !

    Ultrafine 253/000 is unfuckingbelievable.

As a heterosexual man, I am proud to say I have 7 test tubes of glitter on my desk in front of me waiting for some poor rim to get glittered up.

  • arrospok that is!

  • please someone do a photochop of a monospoke...?!

I did a rubbish rough one a while back, I will see if I can search for it.

[EDIT] found it - super shit, but you get the idea.

[quote]Todd They're gonna be everywhere this summer!
You just watch them creep out when the sun starts shining.
Puts the emphasis back on spokes.
    It'll be disc wheels next...perhaps.

I am waiting for single bladed aero wheels:

(apologies for the shameful Potatoshop™ work)

exactly the point. (I used to wear bondage trousers when I was 16. I guess I haven't moved on...)

Let's start a new trend - bondage wheels, front wheel strapped to the back one.

  • what, like a steam train???

  • what, like a steam train???

Fuck it ! Even Network SouthEast have got white deep Vs now !!!

is that the gay version of HTFU? your rim is gonna get glittered up fool

  • Langster - look bad - ride nice.
Arrospok - look nice - ride bad.

So this would equal the perfect bike as they cancel each other out.
