• hence why i suggested the centaur sealed BB at 111mm ;)

  • I was kinda surprised you'd recommend the unsealed one, dogs.

  • isnt it for a pure track bike mikec?

would have thought that would explain the seal-less-ness of it!

  • LOL oh yes so you did. From your PM 'then run a campag centaur 111mm sqaure taper BB.' Seems like I can't read. But this bottom bracket is a good one yes?

So basically I have an unsealed Bottom Bracket. This may cause me problems in the rain yes? I was planning on using this bike sparingly at Herne Hill and in nice weather. I have my other bike for general use.

  • then you're fine!

  • Go here:

    http://www.campagnolo.com/jsp/en/doc/doccatid_3.jsp

    Then "Technical Documentation" >Spare Parts

Have a butcher's at the '06 parts catalogue, part a, pdf.

Check to blown-up view of the Record BBs and note the additional weather seal in the Strada version. (BB RE-205)

After '06 the Record BB changed to outboard bearings, but the part should be available.

Ohh yes I see what you mean. Its basically just a seal to stop the water getting in. I wonder where I can get one of those from then. I shall look on ebay. Thanks for your help

  • Give CONdor a go. They're a Campagnolo Service Dealer.

  • So my bb came loose again. Not a problem I thought, since I bought everything needed to sort it a while ago. Only problem the woman in the not named bike shop sold me £30 worth of tools not fitting the BB and cranks I have, which I explained to her.

So, I'm heading out again to get a bb tool for my miche bb, but instead of trusting the bike shop I'm asking you lot to confirm that a campag bb tool will, indeed, fit my miche bb?

    thankyouforlistening

  • Outspoken Cycles sell a Tacx tool that fits the Miche 107mm BB perfectly.

It says that it's for Campag on it - might be easiest just to order from Outspoken however, as I'm unsure as to whether any Campag one does. Someone with more knowledge may be able to confirm :-)

    It's this one: http://www.outspokencycles.co.uk/product_info.php/cPath/40_24/products_id/94

  • this site says the campag tool fits (splined not the one with semi-circular notches)

    *Tools, glorious tools!
    Long wrenches and splined fits.
While we're in the mood --
lets fit all our new bits.
    They're basically grown-up toys.
    Gru-bby hands and scratches.
Some gentlemen have them boys --
    on-line matches!

  • Yeah, it does. I use a park one and its fine.

  • cool, thanks all!

  • chorus and record is the same as miche (internal spline)
the other campag ones have external notches

  • yep!
    it's what i use.

  • i found that they work on my new miche bb but not on my old one - the size of the grooves is smaller on my old one

  • Anyone in London have the proper tool to remove this type of BB?

    Thanks!

  • I have a (faintly ridiculous) range of BB tools, one of which might fit that.

Which tool do you need specifically?

  • To fit the notched cups as above.

The notches are half circles as opposed to the more standard square notches.

The tool may look a little like this.

  • I think that I have the square notched type, but will check.

When do you need to remove this BB by- and what make is it?

  • Within a week would be cool.

Dont laugh, but the BB is made by FAG.

  • DMC, I have the tool in your picture but also even better the TacX one that screws on to the crank so it can't slip off - mega torque possible! I'm in SE1, around most of the w/e.

  • The original FAG tool is ace:

But i'd say the Tacx one is my tool of choice for FAG or those older campy ones:

  • +1 for the Tacx, in case it wasn't clear I have one of those available too, definitely the best.
