dogs balls... thats an hamstead heath is an evil hill... what ever way you go up it... via the camden side or golders green side....well impress with 28 min on that route
I think i will build one instead of buying a langster... I am treating this a fun project... I have got some experience fixing bits and pieces on my bike.. so this would be fun....
And yes.... beer for knowledge is all good... ahaha... where are you base??

I was thinking putting some cheap and cheerfull carbon fork on the peugeot...
itm visia winter carbon fork or or even kona project 2 butt fork or something i pick up from ebay...or is someone going to tell me I can;'t do that?
-
• #83
i though they are all standard size...
-

forks are either 1 inch (older / classic road) or 1 and 1/8 ( MTB, modern road )
If it's a fun project and you're not bothered about getting the absolute cheapest, best value-for-money bike then start ebaying..
search the for trade thread and post what you want. People will have absolutely everything you need just lying around... the hoarders! -

great!! while I am on the subject... I recently change tyres on my road bike and notice that they are directional....
and when I build my fg/ss bike... I would like to have a flip flop hub.... does it mean I can't really just swap the tyre around?? -

That pug is for 1 inch threaded forks. Because they are missing I assume they have been damaged, so ask the seller to confirm that the downtube is not rippled underneath where it meets the headtube lugs. it's worth £15 at most IMO.
I bought an complete peugeot 103 grand sport like that off Ebay for £8 last autumn. My dad rides it now. Prices have risen but be patient and something better will eventually turn up.
My 2 p - if you put even slightly nice parts on it you will later want to upgrade the frame... I believe 103 carbolite is just Hi-tensile steel, so don't expect miracles ..and so it begins. -

Very good point - I think it would make little difference - but if you were worried you could buy a rear tyre that is non-directional (or should that be bi-drectional?).
I only found out yesterday that a Hed3 wheel has a direction and you can have them on back to front without realising (even of it is a front wheel) ! Weird eh !?

I have no clue, too heavy for me, I buy my bike parts by the gram.

This will be weigh outside of your price range then.

If you're going down the self-build route then it's worth checking out freecycle. I'm just about to pick up an old road bike which I'll probably just strip for parts (in fact, I may have a spare frame in that case...)
Alternatively, my local dump always has a couple of suitable frames which they will try to sell you for £20, but you could probably knock them down to a tenner.

Did you like my sneaky jibe at a person I've never met?
Can't whatdoidonow get his DIY fix by buying a langster then upgradng every part on it gradually, then re-building the original langster? I would definately do that. -
