  • I am born in England but have Vietnamese parents, but I think in English and feel British. I am proud that the games went well, and that it sort of has a touch that is more modern. Dubstep waiting music for example just made it feel like they wanted to be different.

The games cost a lot of money but it may have got money back from whoever turned up, and it did provide people with an opportunity to see some amazing events.

  • Well, this quickly turned into the "Screw the Olympics" thread.

    Fireworks had better be good.

  • First person to bother singing over Funky Drummer since 1992 just doesn't get the respect she deserves

  • I'm off.to Gore Vidal at 1035 these commentators are dire.

  • I have it on good authority we have George Michael will make an appearance.

  • Is he in the bogs warming up currently?

  • I can't begin to imagine in what context.

  • Well, this quickly turned into the "Screw the Olympics" thread.
We need differently segregated threads - Olympics: Aren't the sports awesome (except for football), and Olympics: Isn't the commercialism just sickening.

  • That's cheered me up no end, just thinking of the ways.

  • Is that Ricky Gervais singing?

  • Spice girls I bet, GF said these whores came out

  • I have it on good authority we have George Michael will make an appearance.

Don't ever credit the press with being good authority please.

  • Funky Drummer

Read turkey drummers. Want now. Damn you.

  • I have it on good authority we have George Michael will make an appearance.

He's gonna slam a Jeep Cherokee into the Olympic torch.

  • I'm retrieving my cat from the top of the cupboard where she bolted a few minutes ago. No coincidence.

I'm sure it would be different if we were in the stadium.

  • Read turkey drummers. Want now. Damn you.

  • London 2012 for me is all about:
    1: London actually being quiet
2: Britain putting on a good show
    3: British cycling
    4: Marianne Vos
    5: Hockey
    6: Mo Farah
    7: Jessica Ennis
    8: Chad Le Clos
    9: David Rudisha
    10: Handball
    11: Jamaican athletics squad
    12: All the volunteers
    13: Armed forces
    14: BBC
    15: The British "Summer"

    In no particular order

  • On the train into work tonight I was considering wearing a union Jack tshirt for the rest of my life, fortunately the closing ceremony has cured that, is anyone else cringing, if they roll Elton John out its going off

  • I reckon it's going to be McCartney, Ringo Starr, and animatronic George Harrison and Lennon.

  • By 11 o'clock the trapped athletes will be staging a dirty protest while being harangued by a Kula Shaker jam set.

  • at least make it the Stones

  • Crikey. Are the Stones still alive?

  • Also, female athletes, so much more mature and gracious than their male counterparts and puts the behaviour that's on show in the Premier League and professional football in general to shame.

  • You realise that because you've posted that Ennis is going to arrive Stella'd up, and get her arse out?

  • Actually yeah. Dobriskey or whatever her name is... middle-distance runner. After hearing the grunts of many a male it was actually quite refreshing to her an eloquent, strategic break-down of her sport post-race.

    Plus.

    I'd do her.

    Nah, kidding.

    Not really.
