Well, this quickly turned into the "Screw the Olympics" thread.
We need differently segregated threads - Olympics: Aren't the sports awesome (except for football), and Olympics: Isn't the commercialism just sickening. -

That's cheered me up no end, just thinking of the ways.

I'm retrieving my cat from the top of the cupboard where she bolted a few minutes ago. No coincidence.
I'm sure it would be different if we were in the stadium.

By 11 o'clock the trapped athletes will be staging a dirty protest while being harangued by a Kula Shaker jam set.
-
• #1971

Also, female athletes, so much more mature and gracious than their male counterparts and puts the behaviour that's on show in the Premier League and professional football in general to shame.

• #1974
You realise that because you've posted that Ennis is going to arrive Stella'd up, and get her arse out?
-

Actually yeah. Dobriskey or whatever her name is... middle-distance runner. After hearing the grunts of many a male it was actually quite refreshing to her an eloquent, strategic break-down of her sport post-race.
Plus.
I'd do her.
Nah, kidding.
Not really.
I am born in England but have Vietnamese parents, but I think in English and feel British. I am proud that the games went well, and that it sort of has a touch that is more modern. Dubstep waiting music for example just made it feel like they wanted to be different.
The games cost a lot of money but it may have got money back from whoever turned up, and it did provide people with an opportunity to see some amazing events.
