Doubt Britain get more than 2 or 3 Gold's from this point now.

Four more medals guaranteed in the boxing Joshua is in with a shout for a gold.

I went to see the men's 3m springboard diving semifinal this morning. It was mint. Our man Chris Mears scraped through to tonight's final, ending on an absolute belter of a dive which caused most Brits there to involuntarily jump out of there seats and cheer loudly. It was a good time.
The Aquatics Centre by the way looks like it's been bum-raped by Wenlock and Mandeville. It's ruined by its olympic regalia and the seating, while necessary, is laughably cumbersome. However, it will surely look delicious once it's been unraped and gently made love to as per the original design. I don't like most of their buildings but hats off to Hadid and the gang... the tongue-like, whale-like roof is fucking orgasmic.

Shuang Guo had nobody to hug or thank as she came away with a bronze in the Sprint. No emotions? What's going on there?
Hoy, Levy, Meares and Pendleton all cried their eyes out to compensate.

Chinese innit, they're just machine. Emotions are a sign on imminent failure/destruction
-

I know that's the stereotype. It's not my experience of Chinese people I've met at all... but that has been over here (the UK).
It must be shit winning a bronze and having nobody to say "nice one".

Any idea why the velodrome roof leaks?
(don't say because it lets in water)
-
• #1735
Probably something minor. I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary about the build-up technically. Is it standing seam zinc or what? Velodrome is super-sexy.

I was just joking
Very true. Strange that none of the coaches/mechanics/dogsbodies were around.

I suppose it reinforces the idea that bronze isn't good enough. I reckon they'd be there if she got a gold.

No sign of Priscilla Lopes-Schliep at these Olympics though.
Probably looking for a brick wall that she can't run through.

Not sure exactly I might ask the architect next time I see him. The building blows me away, can't wait to use it properly.

Shuang Guo had
nobodyDaniel Morelon to hug or thank as she came away with a bronzeftfy
She seemed pleased enough with silver in the Keirin
But she did look pretty miserable on the sprint podium considering she's the only track cyclist to come away from these games with three medals. -

I'm beginning to exhibit Olympic withdrawal symptoms.

it's a shame it's nearly over
7 years of build up and the event itself has gone so quickly
can we do it again next year ? -
• #1748
We could. We already have the venues and infrastructure in place, as well as the know-how.
Actually, while that was a daft observation, it does make you realise what a waste this whole thing is.
-
• #1749
Yep. I hope we don't just get counting the cost and looking at a dodgy bit of real estate like we did after the millenium dome closed (still shite).
