Gah, the NEF model of Social Return on Investment is currently screwing my noggin *right *up.

The points they make about the Olympics benefiting big businesses at the expense of the locals are valid but nothing new. The same things are happening across Government procurement projects of all kinds - consultants and large companies make a killing and deliver crap value for money. They make some good points made about how the local benefits could be maximised, although I'd be very (pleasantly) surprised if any of it happened.

I'm just excited to see how royally the UK manages to fuck up hosting the Olympics. Millennium O2 Center Dome Experience, anyone?
Sorry, I'm very cynical about the notion that our inept leaders can somehow pull a success out of their collective rear end, given that they've ballsed-up most everything else thus far.

Trust me, it will be a fucking shambles - take Wembley as an example. Saying that, it was built by a load of pissed up, stoned Ozzy's! ;-)

We were running a last minute sweep here.
I ended up with Shitcago and they failed to deliver. -

I took a stroll through the Athens Olympic site after the circus had left town.
Very strange feeling wandering around with random rubbish blowing past, no-one else anywhere around when the previous time you had been there was rammed with people, TV crews etc.

I think that Madrid will suit me better. Although at higher alttude than Rio, I will be suffering less from jet lag. As I will be about to turn 59 at the time of the 2016 Games, I think that that is an important factor. It may be my last shot at gold.
I am leaving the 2012 Olympics out as I don't think that I can train to the required standard in time.

I think the Games here are going to be excellent. If a bunch of bog-brained inbreds can pull it off in Sydney, then surely we can.

I think the Games here are going to be excellent. If a bunch of awesome Aussies that RPM and I love so much can pull it off in Sydney, then surely we will probably get it done but it'll only be 'ok'.
