  • they are you know. very good live indeed.

  • Yadda, yadda, yadda... And wrote some of the most creative stuff I've heard in the last 10 years.

What, when you were like 5 fucking years old?!?!? Go back to bed, Max...

    • 1 Turbonegro
  • Shut your trap, you corpse

  • closes door to thread and backs away

  • brilliant.

Do you think she'd mind, by the way?

You know, the christmas present i have for my girlfriend?....seeing as you know EVERYTHING about me and my life.

She doesn't like anything from urban outfitters.

    I tried.

  • The knee-jerk "...really good live band..." statements get on my tits.

  • Why, Rich?

  • i dunno. i guess it is because it is used as a bog-standard comment to say "yeah, i've seen them live"*

hardly anyone says that a band is shit live, because going to watch live music IS good.

*not aimed at anyone in particular

  • maybe i am just being a wanker.

    paramore were shit live.

  • Turbonegro are shit, but with a good live

  • ole!

disagree, I find that live music is often hugely disappointing after hearing the recordings. Sloppy musicians, bad sound systems, shit venue etc etc.

I feel your vibe, for sure. Personally I only say it if they ARE good live.

*Live music is the best thing ever, even if its a shit band, as long as they are rocking the fuck out, I can dig it

we probably listen to different music. i definitely prefer to hear a band play it live.

i will agree that bad sound systems can ruin a gig and i have left a few because of this (brixton went through a period where the sound was so shite, i'd passed on a few because they were there).

    Fuck me!

    Is this acceptable?

    Really?

    Fuck.

    Fuck.

    Miscellaneous & Meaningless!

  • (brixton went through a period where the sound was so shite, i'd passed on a few because they were there).

When was this? I've been to loads of gigs at Brixton but have mixed memories, some of the sound being top notch and some of it being abysmal. Always confused me

Richie, and I thought you only went for music you can feel, but not hear. Another one of my illusions shattered. :)

    +1000

Life's too short to spend at Cargo wishing you were hearing your favourite band somewhere else.

  • I've seen Sir Patrick Moore live, twice.

    He was fucking awesome.

  • i will agree that bad sound systems can ruin a gig

nb - this doesn't make the band shite live

dunno - 2003ish. we saw one gig where we tried to stand in about three different places to see if it made a diff. (audioslave, i think)

    live versus recorded, smartypants.

I didn't say that all live music was disappointing, just that it often is. But as you say it's probably down to the music I listen to.

Apparently Brixton is still shite, my friends were furious after seeing MF Doom last month - so glad that I passed on it

  • saw the national at brixton last week and the sound was woeful for the first three songs, i was on the verge of walking out when it suddenly drastically improved.

  • I've seen Sir Patrick Moore live, twice.

    He was fucking awesome.

I interviewed him once.. He was most attentive to the young boy/assistant he had in tow. Patrick had shocking dandruff..
