Oh, while we're making requests, VB is there any way to increase the number of posts that the spy displays? I like that thing but the history is too short.

I've removed the anomalous behaviour that allowed you to delete someone else's message under certain circumstances. The overall idea is that you own and control your own content, and other people own and control their content. In the two places where someone else could delete your content (or you delete theirs) I've now prevented that from happening.

I had zero intention of deleting them. I try not to delete anything if it can be helped.

Not that new. VB mentioned them when the motorbikers invaded so maybe 6 months+.

VB, how come when I ignore stuff like the regional forums, they still appear in the "new posts" search? Can you make Ignore completely hide posts?

i notice when i click the thread titles twice it brings an edit title box... but then it skips into the thread... anyway that i can just edit?

This might be a quirk with your system, or perhaps you triple-clicked?

Editing is what is supposed to happen, and it's the way I do it all over the place.

Because you shouldn't have been able to, I didn't realise it was set up that way. The idea was that you own your content, and only you have the ability to delete what you say, which means no-one else should delete what you say, in which case why should you be able to delete what they say? I hadn't realised it was possible there until I discovered a couple of people who systematically were deleting everything they could, and were it not for that I wouldn't have changed the setting.

^ so if someone leaves a abusive or inappropriate post on your page you're basically stuck with it? hardly seems fair?

VB: it doesn't seem a very popular move so far. Maybe you should consult and see how people feel. The way I see it, VMs and posts are not the same, I don't feel the same ownership of a VM as I do of a post but I do feel some kind of ownership of my home page. If I send a VM I don't mind if it is deleted and if I receive one I would like to be able to choose wether or not it remains visible to everyone. Perhaps I am over sensitive to questions of privacy and fussy about tidying up my home page. But the system seems to have worked ok up till now.
What I don't want is people sending me VMs when I have asked them not to and me having no way of deleting them :)

Here's an idea. You delete your stuff off of VB's page and I'll delete my innocuous comments off yours.

If I had known VB was going to remove his own ability to delete what I wrote I wouldn't have written it. My reasons for wanting to delete VMs are nothing personal against the people who sent them, I just don't like them.

I'm browsing the forum using firefox v3.0.5
and it seems more and more often, images are failing to load on threads.
I can see people talking about it but can't see the images, not sure if its the place where the pictures are being hosted, my browser, or my broadband connection, though I am getting 17mb worth of download speed so I doubt its my provider.

anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

haven't tried browsing in safari yet, but if you could have a look it would be appreciated..
