No idea... is it just you and when did it start to happen?
Have you been installing firefox addons willy nilly?
Testing again.
With no add-ons enabled.
There are no breaks between these lines. -

Hmm.. no breaks between lines now but I'm sure I didn't have 3 lines space after your comment.

You're just upset about the kickstand hate you've been getting.. -

Really subtle, but given that the AdSense revenues are now a measly $2 per day I'm removing them for everyone except for guests coming from search engines.
The basic logic is: They're not worth much, and if I'm going to pollute the site with adverts I'd rather have them targeted at those who are both most likely to click them (they are searching for something, and contextual adverts might have the answer), and who aren't reading the site daily (it would annoy them more).
I doubt this would make any reduction on the $2 per day... I suspect it will just retain that revenue but reduce the number of advert impressions... this is good, we're only paid for clicks and not impressions.

VB - whats your thoughts on an auto-refresh?
-
• #361
Where do you see a need for it?
And you know that Opera browser has an option to auto-refresh any page on any site at custom intervals in time?
-
• #362
Dunno... just a thought really save me pressing the post button every 2secs.
and im on firefox... might give that singing browser a go!

Just to see new posts?
Have you looked at the Spy thing:

I remember that a while back...
Just watched it update very nice, but it includes some of the threads/forums ive ignored. Still better than a kick in the nuts. cheers.

Can the search be made any better or can you tell me how to use it?!
My problem is that if I search for something and the search term is found in a really long thread, I then have to trawl through the whole thread to find it. Can the search results show whereabouts (page number) in the thread the search term was found?
Or does it do this already and I don't know how to use it?

VB. I want to be able to set up a social group that doesn't require invite, but does require new applicants to be approved. How is this possible?

What happened to disclosing the identities of tag writers?
And how *do *you make the perfect souffle? -

Ditto.. Is there a way I could search for a specific user's posts in a thread without having to go through each page?

You can do a "Search within this thread" from the top right (somewhere) or you can use the advanced search to filter on Author.

I think I've tried both but from what I remember it only highlights the person's posts, it doesn't take you to them..

You have to do a little digging. Use the Find function in your browser since it should take you to the specific page of their comment. It's a bit time consuming but I can find most posts pretty quick.
The only one that eluded me is that fucking HED Jet 50 time trial machine. I couldn't find pics of it. -

If you can see the thread in the forum, on the count of replies, click... and that will show you the breakdown of who replied and how many replies they have... and then click the number next to the person you want, and it will show you all the posts within that thread by that person.

Maybe I've just never noticed it, but the linkbacks are quite cool - are they new? Looks like it identifies when a thread has been linked to from an external site.
-

Not that new. VB mentioned them when the motorbikers invaded so maybe 6 months+.
VB, how come when I ignore stuff like the regional forums, they still appear in the "new posts" search? Can you make Ignore completely hide posts?
Nope, just you hippy.
Have you been at the magic water again?
