We do not have any pop-ups or pop-unders.
If you are seeing some, then it's likely that there is a browser extension doing this, a browser toolbar, or some middleware that is running as a service on your local machine.
Basically... it's at your end and not ours.
Actually... we will never do pop ups and pop unders (except for sign in on Microcosm). So if you're seeing some and want to prove that you have some malware or other things interferring, visiting LFGSS is a good way to have that proof, because it's definitely not our doing.
Finally... you can do another test:
Are there pop ups there when you visit LFGSS via https ?
If yes, then it's a browser extension.
If no, then it's more likely a toolbar or service running on your machine.

Would it be possible to have an option for the site to be on a orange/peach background colour instead of white? I've changed the cursor selection on my mac to orange and when I select text I find it easier to read and type things. Maybe have like a small drop down menu of background colours?

Web browsers should all offer the chance to have user stylesheets. You can achieve what you want that way.

Cheers,
I hope this is the right place to ask this. You know how you can 'scale' the content displayed by your browser window,
with Windows / Firefox you'd press [Ctrl] and [+] / [-] at the same time.
The thing is, I get LFGSS displayed one step above 'normal', until I manually 'scale down'.
It's hardly noticeable, as the text looks 'right' / 'crisp', but you notice photos (which are scaled up as well) being not as sharp as at the correct setting. So am I doing something wrong / how do I fix this?
Only experience this on LFGSS..Bump

Did you mess with the little a a A A's at the top right?
-
• #3507
I'm getting some pop ups from the forum, but also elsewhere on the web. i'm using firefox on a macbook running mavericks. do i just need to delete then reinstall my browser?
It's your browser. took me a few days to kill them all on the work Windows PC using firefox. Weirdly I couldn't find any installed plugins, had to disable them via their site and clear the cache

@ snottyotter
The four A's only change font size, images stay the same.
The issue I'm having is that everytime I log-in to LFGSS, everything is scaled up a bit,
so an image that is 500px wide is displayed 545px wide.
Other webpages display it correctly, 500px wide.
I can scale down LFGSS's content by pressing [ctrl] and [-], but when I log out and back in again, it's back to the enlarged state. -
• #3509
I thought you'd gone through that before. Ctrl + 0 then Ctrl + F5?
-
• #3510
Not sure I understand what you are saying.
Yea I gone through this before, but bumped the question as my problem wasn't solved,
and I just saw Velocio in here yesterday and thought he could help.Anyways - like I said, the way images are being displayed has nothing to do with the AAAs, this is just for type,
I could scale all the things with [ctrl] [+] / [-] succesfully so a 500px image would be displayed 500px wide,
but it always went back to "one step enlarged" when I logged out and in again.Your suggestion, pressing [ctrl] + [0], then [ctrl] + [F5] solved the problem -
when logging out / in again, even when restarting browser things stay as they should now. Thanks!

Glad it helped, I just meant I remembered you having the problem before and I probably said the same thing about the As but couldn't be bothered going back to check.

Did a search for 'car back' (including quotes), broke forum

If you need to do that search in the meantime, it works properly if you use double quote, i.e. "car back"

• #3514
Indeed! Thanks :)

PHP quote-handling breakage. Such fun. A language specifically designed for the web, so tragically bad at it that it isn't even funny.

noticing some funky login issues I haven't yet narrowed down.
Firstly my session keeps timing out not sure why.. im not closing it down or logging out.
I always incognito mode on my browser at work, what the no-activity timeout is currently set as?Secondly I am typing the wrong password in and still logging in successfully... bare with me.
My password is autopopulating however with a slight lag so I end up typing it as well.. and see double the characters shown that should be ******* however im too lazy to start again and press enter anyway.
Bingo im in.
My guess the auto password functionality in chrome is ignoring what I enter and just using what it has saved. Still freaks me out. -

Not sure where the bug is there.
With sessions, you're logged in for as long as your browser keeps the cookie. So something at your end is nuking the cookie. Private browsing? An extension?
With password managers, it's fairly standard that they nuke the value of the field before inserting the password, but even then it's illustrative as most password managers have an idea of the page as it's displayed, and the hidden fields on the page. Password managers will populate the hidden fields as well as the visible fields, meaning that when you hit submit the password is likely put into the hidden field and what you typed in was ignored (unless you were explicitly overriding the password manager by changing the values of most fields).
Doesn't sound like either thing is a bug.

Velocio,
When I go to view the replies to a thread on the right of the page.
this pop up window appears however when i then click on the number next to the names of people to see the posts it says I have to wait 3 seconds between searching.
https://www.lfgss.com/misc.php?do=whoposted&t=17thought you should know
-
• #3519
It's not a bug.
It's even telling you what to do. Just wait a few seconds.
-
• #3520
I did wait. for many seconds. It actually works when i go through the link i posted above but not when it opens as a pop up
-
• #3521
If you want to give rep and comment on an iPad using Chrome, you can't.
Or at least I cant
-
• #3522
Also in chrome mobile. The danger issue applies to searching in a thread as well. The little pop up things disappear when you try to write text in them.
Wait for microcosm.

Halp pls.
I don't appear to have a skin on the forum any more :-(
What have I done?

Now don't do it again.
-
• #3525
That didn't work :-(
Sounds like you need to be using protection.
