probably should've searched.

Neat. I wonder which server that was. I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out.

I've also had this issue, but then my avatar did change after a while. Not sure if this was some moderator-magic or a duff error message, but.

It's weird... I suspect one of the servers isn't able to save files due to a permissions error.
But I haven't actually gone through and discovered which one.
Also, the caching is currently too aggressive so even if you change your avatar, it may not take effect immediately since the old one is still cached.
I'll kick the cache now.

Yeah, caching that time

It just doesn't dare say to you what it really thinks.

It worked. Now I am a holy woman. And some booze.

This might be better.

That's more of a purple.
I notice it keeps flashing back to the old one. CDN or load balancer issue? -

That bloody Mark All Read button.
I hate it. How often is it used? Can it be hidden?
-
• #1414
Me too - clicking it because you think it's 'new posts'?

Increasingly often I’m unable to view photos. It doesn’t matter which network I’m on, home or work, or which browser I use, as I’ve swapped from Chrome to IE. It’s happening in sale threads, bike porn and memes; probably more. Either nothing at all will appear, or all I see is the small square which shows a photo has failed. Others can view the photos in the threads in question, as comments are being made - http://www.lfgss.com/thread61517.html, here for example.
Why so?

sometimes I can see a photo, but then later I can't see the same one.

Couple of things on Android, one old and one new.
New- select link, page loads- but the page displayed does not change.
You can select links- by stabbing the screen at random and getting lucky, but so far I can see no way of forcing the screen to refresh. Quite likely an Android issue, but odd that it has only just occurred.
Second- drop down menus on this site do not work in Android, in that you can select the drop down, but then cannot select anything on it. This works in IOS, so it's definitely how the Android browser is handling the site.

I keep getting "Upload of file failed." errors when I'm uploading photos to my album in usercp.
This is such a persistent error that I've just spent 2 hours looking at it.
What I know is:
1) It's not a problem with the load balancer
2) It's not a problem with the shared file storage mounted to the backend servers
3) It works on some backend servers
4) All of the backend servers are identical (literally, as they are imaged from each other)Which means:
5) I have no clue as to what the problem isBut as I think it's a file storage, permissioning problem more than anything... or something to do with NFS... I'm going to try something out to see if it helps.
Specifically I'm going to move attachment storage into the database, to see whether that solves it.
If it does, then this creates a different problem, but at least I know where to focus my efforts.

• #1420
OK, so now all attachments are being served from the database... and still the problem appears.
So it's nothing to do with file system or permissions, it must be something to do with the environments... maybe a difference in /tmp permissions. Not that I believe there is a difference, but I shall look.

Yup... I was meditating

Finished... should fly again now.
-
• #1423
That was a horrible moment - I kept hitting refresh and it just wouldn't come back! IT WOULDN'T COME BACK!!!
-
• #1424
Are you typing all the db requests by hand again?
No, he gets Scoble to do that. It's been problematic.

Damn my work for keeping me busy lately. Did I miss something about the Moderators thread being closed?
I was wondering if it's possible to have notifications on saved tags, searches? i.e if you're looking for something and save a search, you can get notified if one is posted? Or have I missed this as well?
Explained elsewhere. It happens when images on the page from 3rd party sites are not on SSL, and browsers then inform you it's not 100% SSL... and browsers cache that info so that if the warning was on a redirect you'd still see it... hence once you've viewed one thread containing images, the strike-through remains until the end of the browsing session.
