is this guy gonna be there?
That guy is Dominique. Super-hard vet. Take the piss, but don't challenge him to a race.

And not bad on the tennis court either - or is that an urban myth?

Dom rocks. He's got legs to be intimidated by. Isn't he in the RaphaCondor team? I saw him on a Condor decked out in Rapha ages ago near Bloomsbury. I was going home but on the Serotta and thought he'd make a good wind buffer... he might've done were I ever to catch up with him, just a dot fading into the horizon along The Mall. And it is scary to see the way those muscles worked whilst they were still in visible range.

I beat him in the sprint once, the week after he played me comme un fou:
I attacked up the hill on the last lap of an Eastway Crit; he was the only one to get my wheel; we crested the rise side by side and he feigned another jump; I responded; he sat on my wheel shouting "we've got zee gap, we've got zee gap, go, allez, go" etc; I was under his thrall, and gave him a begrudging lead out all the way to the penultimate corner; he won, I was swallowed up by the bunch :(
His tired old man jambes were putty dans my mains the next week though. Mwahaha.

Nice story!
One of the things that always made me laugh at Eastway was the utter bull-shit the old men spouted during the races - I reckon Mick (API-Resprays) was the absolute king of it.

Surely it's more dependent on whether his bike is on form.. ;)
-
• #38
was it last year hincapie's steerer snapped??
-
• #39
Two years ago I think.
I reckon big Magnus Backstedt will be in with a shout again this year. But it's all about finding the right breaks, you need an awful lot of luck in-running.

Times are up; 1230-1630.
Checking Eurosport it looks like they're only showing an hour of it before the jogging, 1430-1530 - I presume there's no special brasserie owners' channel showing a bit more...
[Hi by-the-way!]

[Hi by-the-way!]
definately uk time and not euro time.eurosport usaually show the last hour and maybe add highlights as inserts ans the race goes on.
Verus might be showing the whole thing,if you online
maybe try steephill.tv
on the topic of rapha, while going around regents last night, had a chat with some roadie.we got talking about races and told him about the showing.as soon as i mentioned rapha he flipped on me and went on a tangent of interesting stuff.

It's on British Eurosport from 15.30 for one hour, and exactly the same on French Eurosport (obviously from 16.30 their time)... If the tour of Flanders last weekend was anything to go by then you'll be able to watch nearly the whole race in high quality live video feed from the comfort of any seat in front of any computer....I don't want to miss out so I'll watch on internet, whilst waiting foreurosport tv to start.....cyclingfans.com always has links to video feeds for most major races too.

But then you miss out on our fantastic company and pub-priced beer winston! How could you!

Yeah. Ha, ha. He's got a girl's name.
Oh, hang on a minute... :S

Apparently the bar where it's at has the french telebox thing. according to http://guidetv.france2.fr/accueil.jspx live coverage from 1330 CET on FR2. That means Laurent Fignon! For 3 hours! Wicked!
@tommy - do I have a reputation for taking people out?
But yeah, it was me that time-travelled backwards to sell some dodgy uppers and beta blockers to your namesake. He should've gone for the acid that I recommended instead.
