Is that true? I was under the impression it had to be protective.

CTT is the governing body of Time-Trialling in the UK....they do not have a requirement for adults to wear helmets, therefore "head -fairings" are allowed.

BC is the governing body for most other disciplines, their rules are based on UCI rules and helmets are required, however it was only recently that such "head-fairings" were still allowed for individual events such as pursuit or time trials (in stage races for example), a few years ago this rule was changed and the aero helmets have to offer protection, the designs changed almost overnight and you can see that aero helmets worn in the Tour de France now are much "fatter" than before this rule came into effect.
Something to do with the history of british cycling there is it not Winston?

One body governing tt the other racing and some friction / polotics between the two meaning you could not race in both or something?
Dave Moulton's blog history of British Road cycling parts 1-3
    reveals all.

  • TheBrick(Tommy)
|³|MA3K 25+ riders, 60 Lap scratch race - woot!

That was the madest track event I have ever seen. Never seen it before. Peleton on a track wicked!
If you think thats mad tune in for the Madison on Saturday.

  • TheBrick(Tommy)
BringMeMyFix I've taken 26 seconds out of Bradley in a 700m hillclimb - he clearly wasn't trying because he never even used his aerobars ;)

Did he have the same haircut? May be he is like Sampson?
I think he did. Plus his son was there - probably about 7 months old, so I expect the parents were a bit jaded.

    A handy bit of Ruby

Fantastic Bos/Hoy sprint. Pure dead genius.

  • adoubletap
burner How did Hoy Blast straight past Bos from four lengths back in the decider - Awesome speed! Romero; what style on the bike! Made her opponent look like a monkey on a unicycle.

The American looked like her bike was too big for her; track nodder?
Both me and my girl (who knows nought about bikes) thought exactly the same thing. She was dancing around all over the place and seemed to be struggling - but then Rebecca Romero is quite a powerhouse, all that rowing.

  • did anyone else catch the gear the team pursuit boys were riding? 105.9" 51 x 13!!!!

DO NOT attempt to do this at home, these guys are pros (or at HH, or in the street)

Looks like they upped the gear for the individual girls medal ride off.....possibly a mistake, Wendy H. looked like she couldn't get on top of it and ended up losing bronze....Rebecca's ride was awesome, but slower than her qualifying.

  • pah i can skid with 51 x 13, easy.

  • hoy's gold medal in the sprint was awe-inspiring. he's a man-machine.

  • as good as the quarter finals?

  • hoy's gold medal in the sprint was awe-inspiring. he's a man-machine.

I saw the semi. He was good in that. Don't have the interactive wotsit so didn't see the final. How much quicker than the French guy was he?
