where's hippy? it's great seeing GBR in the middle of the podium and australia having to sit on the naughty step.

I don't know what I'm more impressed with the british performance or me managing to convince the other half to watch it for and hour and three quarters

"Helmet is not a protective crash helmet but an aero lid. It can be used in CTT events by persons over 18."
Is that true? I was under the impression it had to be protective.

Australia is waiting for the Olympics before hitting their peak. GB obviously has more interest in this being a home event.
I'm watching it on Eurosport. Left work late. Skybox was fucked when I got home.

Is that true? I was under the impression it had to be protective.Lots of club TTs don't even require helmets. It depends on the governing body.

I thought a helmet was optional but if worn must conform to some standard or other. The aeroness of my head is the least of my worries though to be honest :)

Like I said, it depends on who's checking the rules. World Cups, Champs, etc. are UCI events so you have to comply with their rules. Riding a High Wycombe 10mi, you'll probably not be questioned about your lid.

Fucking hell, GB cleaned up today!
Chris Hoy was amazing to watch. Him and Bos are killers. It was like Batman vs. Spiderman. Bos has the speed and skill but Hoy is just raw power.

CTT is the governing body of Time-Trialling in the UK....they do not have a requirement for adults to wear helmets, therefore "head -fairings" are allowed.
BC is the governing body for most other disciplines, their rules are based on UCI rules and helmets are required, however it was only recently that such "head-fairings" were still allowed for individual events such as pursuit or time trials (in stage races for example), a few years ago this rule was changed and the aero helmets have to offer protection, the designs changed almost overnight and you can see that aero helmets worn in the Tour de France now are much "fatter" than before this rule came into effect.

MrSmith
i have to say it though watching track bikes being used in their natural habitat beats wanking off over some colour co-ordinated track bike made for posing on the road.+1
I've raced against Brad....he was only a child pretty much , whilst I was in my late twenties.... to be honest.

I've taken 26 seconds out of Bradley in a 700m hillclimb - he clearly wasn't trying because he never even used his aerobars ;)

Something to do with the history of british cycling there is it not Winston?
One body governing tt the other racing and some friction / polotics between the two meaning you could not race in both or something?
