Interesting.
Would you make them to sell and how much?
-
• #829
whats the difference between your new cleats and simpling swapping L/R for increased release angle?
-
• #830
The angle of release.

yes, we made more then one pair, and i sell them, here in italy we sell about 30 euro.....more or less 25 pounds....they are hand made so they don't have crash test or similar, but i' m using them 2.3 months climbing and downing hill, i climbed "monte grappa" 27 km and going down brakeless... i put here the video.....48 17 fixed Monte Grappa brakeless - YouTube
they have the same angle right and left cleat, so in the end all the teeth is inside the spring...not only a little corner like original....
in other way the cleats are in brass but not for fusion they are at cnc made, downing hill i feel more safe...i don' t use original cleat anymore
if you want other information or buying them, write me for everything :-)

they have the same angle 17 degree more or less, right and left, and so the rear tooth is all inside the spring not only a little corner like original, the oringinal are made for mtb and so for pushing, not for pulling...like in fixed....i'm very happy you appreciate the idea, if you have any question or if you want them , write to me for everythig :-)

Ah yes, I see the difference now. You should put up a side by side with the originals.
I like the idea but Atac cleats are expensive already and yours are almost twice that price!
-
• #834
I would pay twice the price for cleats I felt more safe with, look as though they would last twice as long as well.

Not to be a buzz kill but I have 2 questions.
How can the release angle be the same as stock cleats if the ramp dictating the angle isn't present?
Are you sure that you're not doing any damage to your pedal by wedging a larger piece of metal under the bars, have you used the stock cleats at all since trying these?
Also I don't have problems with good condition cleats and pedals, I had problems with pedals that had become loose.

Great ride vladi. Looks like these cleats are well tested!

good idea, i will make a photo versus original cleat, i think they last longer...but i 'm using them for 3 months, i used the original for 6 months, then i begin to have involuntary release..now i want to control how long the special last :-) they are expansive i know..but we don't make 10000000000 pair of them unfortunately....
with origianl i had this problem:
if you put right cleat on the left foot you have a 17 degree if you turn in left, but if you turn your left foot on the right, in the direction of the frame and you pull the cleat release....very simple....do you ever tried? in my opinion this is very dangerous if you are brakeless.... -

what is the ramp dictating? , there are two angles at the end of the rear tooth...i think this isn't a problem for the pedal, under the spring there is a lot of space....and the tooth isn't larger than the original it's only straight
i hope i'm ready to express my thought my english isn't so good....
many thanks for your appreciating my ride :-)

Hoping for a bit of advice... Took an atac alium pedal apart, got the bearing off the axle easily enough... and now it just doesn't go back onto where it's meant to sit...Has anyone had trouble with this? I've tries pressing it on with force, quite a bit of force, and it doesn't budge. Any ideas?

put the pedal in a vice, make sure its tight enough to hold it.
put the bearing on the hole, where its supposed to go
put a piece of wood on top on the bearing
while holding the piece of wood so it doesn't bounce, hit it with a hammer (might take a few blows).
or try putting the bearings in the freezer over night, then see how you get on.

Nothin real to add, but I joined the club as my first venture into clipless and I love these little bastards. So easy to get out of and the float is really nice.

Probably late to the party but what's up with Mavic Atacs?
-
• #845
Damn, Mavic always has some beautiful kit.

Pretty much the same as Time, magic did pedals with shimano a few years ago.

Heat and cold are your friends.
Put the part that needs to be smaller in the freezer overnight. Put the other part in the oven on a low heat for 20 minutes. They should just slip right together and be as tight as a chicken's lip when the temperatures equalise. -

I wanna get my first clipless pedals, would you guys recommend time atac? And any one got one for sale ?
-
• #849
For first clipless, get the cheapest Shimano SPD you can buy, then spend decent money on shoes.

Ill get the chrome pro.
For future reference: After ordering a pack of M5 nuts... they're too small, the locknut is M6.
