  • Just put some atac xs pedals on and got some fresh shoes, it freels damn good to be back on clipless.

  • has anyone tried the XC specific X Roc or X Roc S? I like the look as bigger platform (I get hotspots with Alium's after a good few miles)

  • These?

Not personally, I've got Roc S's on a number of bikes, the platform seems to be plenty big enough, I though the point of the X Roc S was that you could use it when unclipped?

  • Just ordered some for the MTB so will see what they are like

  • Anyone else experienced this?

Less than 20 miles of fixed riding; no falls, crashes or anything unusual and bam! Bent axel!

Ordered some ROCs while I sent these back and exactly the same has happened to the new pedals today.

Am I just being a complete muppet and missing something blindingly obvious here?

  • Someone is hitting your pedals with a big spanner when you're not looking?

  • hmm that's weird.

Haha, I actually wondered this as I leave my bike locked outside work but the problem always develops while riding. There must be hundreds of folks who use ATACs fixed but for this to happen with two different pedals only leads me to think that I've done something wrong.

I suppose I'll just have to wait for a response on my warranty.

  • I don't see how you can be doing anything wrong. Unless you ride by jumping onto one pedal at a time?

  • Do you weigh 200+ kg?

  • Do you weigh 200+ kg?

    I'm 12 stone dead on and 6ft 2. Hardly a fatty.

  • I'm the same weight and height as you, never bent an axle- I have three pairs of ROC's on various bikes.

Do you reallise it bends when it happens, i.e. do you know what action did it?

I can only think of a very abrupt skid on a high traction surface with grippy tyres?!

  • Opened the ROCs for a peak inside.

Maybe my right crank is bent? Right pedal both times. Maybe because I push back on my right foot to slow down? I hop my back wheel a fair bit but my second hand DMR V8s stood up to months of the same stuff and on the same cranks.

    ARGH!

  • That's impressive

  • send 'em back

35c Vittoria Randoos on my fixie skidder? But really? Me on my commute is enough to kill a pedal designed for cyclocross, cross country, freeride and BMX?

Anyway, it's not noticeable after anything specific. I'll be riding along and then it feels as though my foot is trying to be flung off the pedal.

  • send 'em back

I've already sent the XSs back but am waiting for a response from the store. Luckily I ordered the ROCs from elsewhere so sending those back shouldn't be a problem. Would have looked a bit suspect if I ordered them from the same place.

Have to agree with you that I don't think you should be able to bed the axle- but you've done it twice, so whilst you shouldn't be able to you clearly are.

Are you related to Uri Geller?

  • Unlikely but I guess not an impossibility that you have had two sets of products from the same batch with a manufacturing defect?

  • Have you heard of anyone else with this issue?

  • please tell me the alium has an axle made of different material?

17 stone and reckless skiddah over here...

  • Have you heard of anyone else with this issue?

Been searching pretty hard but nope!

  • I'm big as Malaysian and I've had those Rocs and 3 pairs of Aliums and that just should not happen.
Killed bearings on them and the oldest second hand aliums have been longest lived (red version) but two bent axles is ridic.

  • Eamesy- do you notice that from time to time small metalic items have stuck to you?

  • You are Magneto and ICMFP
