You only dream during REM sleep, which is only a very small proportion of your overall sleep and happens at the end of the sleep cycle*.

*adding the word 'cycle' makes it sound official and sciency.

I don't know if this helps (it may support the tryptophan theory as I didn't eat any cheese and had what seemed a very disturbing dream - less so once written down), but I had a salt-beef baegel, pickles and Taylor's English Mustard (made since the reign of King William IV, dontcha know). And Addlestones before.

But why an octupus, that's what's bothering me. It was looking at me with beady eyes from the sink (inexplicably it was unable to get out the sink). I don't even know what an octupus' eyes look like.

I had a dream about Kylie the other night. It was excellent. I very rarely remember any dreams, so this was unusual. Just thought I'd share.
