Big Dave: here's a route out to Essex. Ignore the first two miles, after that it's 10 miles from the roundabout and you're in the countryside.
See Oliver, it's not fucking flat!
Big Dave, Kelvedon Hatch is ace. There is a cool Cold War Nuclear Bunker there.

Love that sign.
In other news I got a bastard puncture on the way home. Luckily it was slow enough that there was still some air in it by the time I got back.

I have a variation similar to that, it's 10 miles longer but takes in Tawney Lane and Banks Lane, which are lovely, then Stewards Green Road, then Ivy Chimmneys Road back to the main road. I'd stick it up but it's in my head, not ridewithgps. The extra 10 miles makes it quite a bit more rural for the furthest out bit.
I tend to go via High Beech as the A104 is, IMO, pretty horrible. Better to avoid it as much as possible and see some more trees.

I agree, the road surface coupled with HGV/car speed along there is horrible. I did 80* miles out and about in essex yesterday, with some lovely B roads.
*Should have been 60 but forgot my oyster/wallet through change of jacket, so had to cycle back from Harlow (instead of catching train) via scenic route and was rewarded with rain and small bits of hail.

Will be there next week. Someone do me a favor and wear something recognizable.
Thanks to Fox and Apolloxl for those routes. They are definitely routes I will ride one day.
