  • If neither of you want it (unlikely I know) I have just realised that my Dahon riding other half needs a Sturmey type hub, he never adjusts his gears properly, his chain comes off, etc etc etc. Plus he's broken a spoke on his rear wheel again, and this is his second or third Dahon stock wheel, they're shit.

  • I'm looking for a Dahon front wheel if anyone has one to sell cheap. I accidentally burned my neighbours' and need to replace it. It's smaller than a 20", but I don't have the exact measurements because he can't figure out what to measure. Which reminds me I need to go downstairs and measure it.

Gears shouldn't need adjusting that often. But at the moment don't know what states it is in.

I'd only want it to a:take to bits and see how it works, or b:bling up the Raleigh Chopper, which is quite dangerous enough, thank you.
So if you want it, take it.

  • Oi its mine...... i'm interested in taking it apart and seeing what happened.

  • So what happens after you've taken it apart..?!

  • So what happens after you've taken it apart..?!

    I see how it worked.

  • notice the use of the past tense, as it shall never work again.

  • Yes, that worried me too :-)

I borrowed Cake's Brompton before I bought mine. That had a 3 speed hub gear. The weight it added to the bike when you wanted to carry it was not offset by the added versatility. The 2 speed offers all the speed variation I need and saves a kilo.

Much as I love hub gears I think sometimes the gears are mostly there to drag the heavy hub around.

  • presenting a Deja Vu post.

This week, on Wednesday the 6th of October we are going to the far reaches of what may be termed "East", to:

    The George Orwell
    382 Essex Rd, Islington, N1 3PF

Run by our very own JGarcia!

Bikes nice and safe in the beer garden, a nice ale put on for us, and you can bring your food in from the nearby kebab shop.
It's near Mitchison Rd polo court.

(I'm sceptical of the N1 postcode but it's below the North London line, on Essex Rd and named after a bloke who was named after an Suffolk River, so that's quite East. Anyway, it's only for one week.)

  • All the rest of the drinks will be doing it soon, trends start in the east and spread westward, doncha know.

    or have you moved again?

I live in East London but West Beers will always be my home.

  • Didn't south east do it first?

  • You've never met me have you Max ;)

I don't think I'm going to be able to make tomorrow as I have to go to Kennington to eat birthday cake. The Orwell is very near my place again (but in a different direction) though, so I may try to pop in for one on the way.

Perversely I may go to Wests on Thursday as I will be at Earls Court doing the Cycle Show.

How does the trendy East look now?

  • This pub looks awesome and round the corner from my house, may well pop in to break my Easts Cherry :)

  • i will also be at earls court at the office world show or whatever its called.

  • Will these blue skies last?
I got rained upon this morning. I would like to imagine I'll stay dry (on the outside) tonight.
