Small but perfectly formed last night.
Niall I still can't really think of a downside to our cunning plan. Also, I solved the case of mistaken identity. If you Google Dan's name + carpentry you will see how it happened. He may not think he needs a website but I think he needs one if only for SEO reasons!

First new grammar school in 50 years approved
The Times – Francis Elliott and Greg Hurst
Education secretary Nicky Morgan is set to approve plans for a new 450-pupil school in Sevenoaks, the first new grammar school in Britain for 50 years. Due to a 1998 law that forbids new taxpayer-funded grammar schools, the school will technically be an annexe of the Weald of Kent Grammar School in Tonbridge. Pupils at the Sevenoaks school will have to spend some time on the Tonbridge site once a week following conditions set by lawyers at the Department of Education. So new grammar schools are illegal, but let's get around it on a technicality. What a lot of bollocks.

Yay for selection on merit rather than how rich your parents are and whether they can afford to live in the right postcode. Still think it should be phased selection with additional entries at each year. The important thing is that the other schools in the area are still academic and don't write kids off just because they were not top of the class at 11.

Hmm. I didn't see this till now and it's not the place for political discussions, but is it selection on merit when well off parents pay for coaching to get their little darlings through the tests?
They were talking about this on Any Questions over the weekend and interestingly the government are putting out very 'this is a one off' vibes over this school, so don't expect to see any more either way.

Easts isn't dead. Officially. On the pre-requisite that it takes one fairly regular arrival to consume at least a pint in the nominated establishment - then tis all good!
