  • elite super crono power fluid. Long name.

  • Lemond Rev is AWESOME.

  • Is that the direct drive one?

  • Yup.

  • Aren't they incredibly noisy though? I was tempted until I saw a video clip of one in action and it sounded like a jet was preparing for take off outside.

  • During an interval they hit ~100 or so Db, which is human pain threshold.

Which is a shame as they look really good, albeit expensive.

  • Meh. human pain threshold.Shouldn't you be screaming louder than that on your turbo anyway?

  • If you can scream you aren't riding hard enough.

  • Dunno doesn't seem that bad. The fans I have going to cool me are as loud.

I don't really care, I listen to music with noise cancelling headphones. So no bother to me.

No worse then my kreitler headwind unit.

If it's in a house then maybe it's loud. I use it in my large loft so not bad. In a garage or outbuilding it'd be fine. Or balcony.

  • In a field? Could you use it in a field?

  • I'd say so. Would work well as a bird scarer.

  • enjoying rollers 100x more with music I like and just zoning out over trainer road

probably not as 'useful' a workout in terms of intervals and stuff but i can stay on longer, just going down a gear every new song until i'm at 99%, next song 'sprint' for 30 seconds then wind back up the block and repeat

also a good chance to listen to some music ive not had the time to listen to properly

  • Been using the fixed gear on the turbo. Doing sufferfest vids With trainerroad. The lactic build up is Incredible. Keep telling myself that the burn means good training effect. But I'm probably dissolving my muscles to jelly.

  • 8 hours bitches. 8 hours.

  • 8 hours on the turbo? Fuckin weirdo

  • Indeed.

  • I can do 45 mins on the rollers tops before i crash and burn

  • Longest I've managed on a turbo is probably 2 hours, longest on rollers; 3. Life is too short for anything in excess of that. I'd rather get soaked outside than sit on the torture gate..

  • i get saddle pain on the rollers that i never get when out riding, like a huge hotspot that aches up into my gut

probably means my saddle does fit right but meh

  • I've got an old elite turbo that has been sat in the cellar for too long. Pretty basic, but perfectly functional. Anyone want it? Can I tempt you at £30?

  • Longest I've managed on a turbo is probably 2 hours, longest on rollers; 3. Life is too short for anything in excess of that. I'd rather get soaked outside than sit on the torture gate..

So would I but that's the point. I wanted to challenge my capacity for a different type of suffering. I know I can hurt myself physically and I know I can ride in almost any weather conditions but mentally how long can I ride indoors when I hate it so much? Boom, there's your answer.

  • Must be more effective mental prep too. 8hrs on the turbo must mentally feel like 16 outside surely.

  • You need a hobby.

  • I need a bullet.

  • Definitely sounds like the sort to have inserted a crayon up their nose as a kid. Just to see what happened.
