  • Ordered one earlier, got a good price from CRC with a discount code so just went for it. Is a riser block necessary or is there a cheaper alternative? A minimum of a tenner for a crappy bit of plastic seems steep.

A book of suitable thickness is my weapon of choice. Oxford Book of Modern Science Writings, ed. Richard Dawkins (hardback, just over 400 pages) does the job nicely.

Only other specialist equipment I use is a towel, a fan (or the heating turned off in Winter) and something good on the telly.

  • Beat me to it!

  • I thought that's what Yellow Pages was produced for.

  • Good call! Cheers. Also, any general tips for someone who had never used one before? Ideas for training routines and the like.

  • Get a "bike bra" or just a rag to put over the top tube and head cap to stop sweat falling on them, have a few spins, leave the trainer under the stairs untouched for two years and then sell it on eBay. I think that's the standard approach.

  • Sounds ideal!

  • Re: noise levels, I got himself the Tacx Satori turbo for christmas and it's nowhere near as noisy as I feared.

We've got wood floors and are 2nd floor flat, but with it set up on a failry shaggy rug and the tacx mat it came with on top the sound that carries through the flat is no worse than a washing machine - can't really hear it from underneath either.

  • A great fucking big electric fan

I use a brick. Has a nice groove in it, just like a riser block. I like to think Sean Kelly would approve.

  • that's a good idea as well.

  • B60-r is a good price from Merlin at the moment, I know as I got one :)

  • I paid exactly the same price after using a voucher which is nice! Should hopfully arrive tomorrow so I can spend my Saturday evening getting buff rather than pissed.

  • Does anyone have experience with Qubo Digital?

  • Unfit as owt, 30 minute roller session on trainerroad with 3x1minute at 110+ cadence, 1x5minute at 110+ cadence, rest above 90, bailed after 26 mins as i was absolutely fucked

  • Any of you dentists got a lemond revoloution?

  • That room must fucking stink.

  • Do you even window?

  • That room must fucking stink.

Depends on whether he pissed into a bucket, or directly into his shorts.

  • So I used a friends tacx trainer a couple of weeks ago and realised that 110db is no longer par for the course in turbo trainers, I've also shredded my vintage turbo trainer tyre in the last week, what do people reccomend for sub £200?

  • A Cyclops Fluid2 on special.
