  • I think i will need a fan as well...

So far i have a wireless headphone set for the tele... I think thats a big win :-)

  • My first fan...

    Tiswas now named CB's Groupy

  • CB, I have one of these you can have for £10 if you want
vittoria trainer tyre - Google Search

  • cheers Pifko, but i have one already :-)

  • I've made the crazy decision to train outside on a turbo. That's mindnumbingly dull.

  • my latest turbo breakthrough is using airfoil to stream the audio from my laptop to my iphone/canalphones, so I can watch movies/TdF/training vids, as well as listen to tunes, at any volume I like without pissing off the neighbours. Cranking the stereo so I could hear it over the turbo noise didn't make me very popular.
    +1 to a fan too.

  • i have a turbo for sale if anyone wants it

Why wouldn't you just ride? At least you'll have scenery and the chance of being killed in a horrific accident to keep you entertained.

  • we dont have any threads on Turbo Trainers other than people selling them.

Other than these four you mean? mergekill

How do you get rid of the lag?

Hard to get safe enough or long enough constant condition road to do repeatable efforts.

  • That and I like staring at my shed door for an hour.

  • How do you get rid of the lag?

Plug laptop into router with cat5. It's still slightly behind but nowhere near as bad as wireless.

    Amazing.

    I just use a male-female extension lead :/

  • your turbo might not be as loud as it seems. which s

ounds cryptic, but I've been mashing mine for the last couple of weeks in the living room and it sounds hella loud even though its a fluid one, but my gf swears all she hears in the next room is a gentle hum. (maybe because I'm actually just sitting watching porn and having a tommy tank... turbo, pffft)

  • Damn you hippy!!! damn you!!!

I thought i went through all of them! It was sales and Wanted only...

I feel ashamed for being merged :-(

  • Amazing.

knew some smartarse would come in with that one. Of course that works well, but it's nice not to have to deal with the tangling of cords. And more technology is always better, you know.

Also F and G keys in VLC allow you to bump the audio forward and back to get it in sync.

  • I have a Kurt Kinetic Rock & Roll with small wheel adapter. It is superb.

It is not stationary in the vertical plane like other trainers - it moves (lots) and you use your core muscles. It's actually just like riding outside... :-)

it's also power calibrated - so speed is related to power (+/- 5% - powermeters are +/- 3% so close enough..)

It's the same fluid resistance unit of the Road Machine - noise wise, not a lot till ~20mph then it does start being more noticeable - still fine with the TV up a few notches tho.

Recommended as it's the only one that is approved for use with tandems(!) and works fine with brompton sized wheels upwards :-)

  • ^big footprint though. Not for those with limited space in which to set up.

  • Rollers - Warm up > Turbo Session > Rollers - Cool down

    That's how I roll

    See what I did there?

  • Does any one have any decent links to painfull turbo sessions.
I remember Hippy talking about some but can't recall the name.

    Thanks in advance etc.

  • you thinking about the sufferfest ones?

If so I downloaded 'Angels'-a bit disappointed tbh... footage is a bit dull and I don't really like the whole (yank style) machismo of 'em but to each their own. I found I worked harder just watching TdF clips and the like on youtube and doing set plans.

Not massively experienced with the turbo so only recently discovered the joys of micro-interval training... mein gott I have never sweated so much on the turbo than with these sessions-15 min warm up zone 2, 10 mins of 15 secs full on and 15 secs zone 2, 5 mins zone 2 'recovery', repeat 2 more times, 15 mins warm down, or, another 10 mins constant zone 4/5 to max out if you haven't already then 5 mins warm down.

been doing this 2/3 times a week for the last 3 weeks and starting to see the benefit in rising speed and stamina.

  • Thats them, cheers.

  • Not really a turbo specific thread for this so thought I'd just plant my bitching tree right here and let it flourish or wither. I'm sure many here have a love hate with their turbo too.

The bitching being that I need/should get on the fucking turbo right now but I'm effing knackered for work and just want to eat a fish finger sandwich and maybe some peas... But I got precisely fuck all riding in at the weekend and need to pull the proverbial stinky finger out. Normally I wouldn't mind but work has been heavy for the last few weeks and I didn't get any time off at the weekend, my back hurts and I'm behind on my training anyway.

fuuuu. How to motivate one's self to do the necessary sweat session when this tired? Anyone got any tips (other than MTFU, HTFU, etc they're all givens)?

Fuck it. Ok. I'm doing it. Now. Tony Martin style drooling here I come.

    Shit.
