Looks mental, how does the ERG cope with such a rapid up and down?

Not very well, I'd think. I did it pre-smart trainer

Graveyard
Badgers Ride?

I went through this a few weeks ago. Had a replacement within the week but the customer service quirk was if I chased up by email, I was told my request would go to the bottom of the pile.

I've got an Elite Muon fluid trainer that's gathering dust I could sell. Heavy though and would need collection.
-
• #2657
They're collecting it Friday and replacement is supposed to ship as soon as mine is in transit to them.
Anyone who says my request goes to the bottom of the pile will quickly find themselves inundated with tickets. They will think it's a bot but it'll just be me replacing miles with messages.

Just do a short v02 session, unless you want to be knackered for the rest?!
-
• #2659
I tried to fix mine myself by taking the whole thing apart to bang a locking key in...it helped reduce the volume of the issue but the whole unit still needed replacing.
It's a shame, the actual unit was great till it wasn't.

It does pretty good but you need to anticipate the cadence for the interval/rest, otherwise its a big grind at the start and spinning out when it finishes
-
• #2661
Yeah, I'm not touching it. If it was second hand or older and miles out of warranty I would but this is not even a year old. Wahoo have been straight on it though. Probably the fastest support response I've had, short of storming into a shop with something broken.

Every time I hear a weird noise out of my replacement I get a bit worried.
-
• #2663
Warranty should start again with receipt of the new unit so I'll keep breaking them until they quit and give me a refund.
-
• #2664
I’d check that if I were you. Last warranty replacement I got they said that the original warranty period still applied. It’s why I usually return things for refund (it could also be the shitty consumer laws here though)

Cheers - found a trainer on the forum

Are rollers so much quieter than turbo trainers? I had a Tacx in the UK which would be too noisy to use in an apartment , but since we're all quarantined for 15+ days I'm desperate to get on the bike somehow as a form of exercise.
How would rollers be for the neighbours downstairs? And any super cheap recommendations?

Rollers aren't great for downstairs neighbours.
Direct drive turbo likely the quietest (not super cheap sorry)

• #2668
Elite does some decent and not super expensive ones... still not cheap though

That was my fear. Unwilling to drop loads of cash on a DD trainer when (fingers crossed) I’ll be out and about in 2-4 weeks.
Oh well.

It's a longer term investment though, do it now and you'll be very happy pulling it out of the cupboard in October

With rollers it's the vibration of the drums spinning that causes the noise/rumble for the flat below. You could try some washing machine matting or something underneath. https://www.floormats.co.uk/washing-machine-mats?gclid=Cj0KCQjw6sHzBRCbARIsAF8FMpXbLV_5yKLnTsQmDMgAM0JMBMDQzQVpFLTJypR4tdDV432bFJ4NfAYaAklzEALw_wcB

Hey have you (or anyone else) used this type of matting? Presume I want the thick version? Am currently using a heavy yoga mat, but my partner wants it back for home yoga, and I have floorboards throughout house.
-
• #2673
I've used these before on recommendation from someone else on the forum, they're good but not too thick so if you were really trying to eliminate noise you'd probably want something more substantial.

Yeah I had a look at similar in a shop and thought they wouldn't do much for noise. Think I'll grab some of the 2cm washing machine ones. Thanks

Heh, in the UK maybe but not in Valencia - I didn't pull on leg warmers or a long sleeve jersey this winter!
I tried Graveyard once
Never again
