  • Bro, do u even phone book?

  • As a matter of fact, no.

  • do u even phone book?

    2x4 offcut ftw

  • Well find some. Another good option is old IT texts.

    "How to rub one out over SQL 2005" is a personal favourite of mine. I put "Writing websites is for Cunts" on top when I want to replicate climbing..

  • Yeah, or a brick. You only need to lift the front wheel a few cm.

    I don't even bother with a riser when I use my JetFluid outside. The paving is wonky enough that it sits well enough to not feel like I'm falling forward off the bars.

  • @ExTra - The Cycelops is a good trainer, but you might find the smart trainer better, should you decide to use Trainerroad or Zwift. They're both good, depending on what you want to get out of them ).

    Edit - The Cycleops is compatible with TR and Zwift, but you have to use the gears to adjust resistance.

  • Yeah, bare in mind I have a Computrainer and a Fluid trainer and I don't bother with anything smart on either of them. The smartest shit in my training is turning the music volume up and smashing it.

  • Fluid 2 you can plot the power curve easily and just bash away at target wattage based on speed.

    15mph = 165w
    20mph = 270w
    25mph = 400w
    30mph = 560w

  • For longer stuff trainer road is even more pointless really.

    For a chaotic 45 min sufferfest vid its really helpful to be able to match your power curve to the target power curve. Just follow the line.

    For long stuff I just watch spring classics with trainer road in the background. I don't actually use it.

    I seem to get on better with sweetspot stuff on the turbo. Then jumping outside for more intense stuff if the weather allows. So I don't really use anything other then youtube and some headphones now.

    Gonna try swift this autumn though.

  • Really really want a new turbo though.

  • I'm meant to be buying a house next week. So can't budget this for a while.

    But what I'd like is a nice direct drive, fluid resistance turbo. I have a power meter so don't need anything 'smart'. I'm also an idiot so don't anything 'interactive' as I won't be able to be smart back to my turbo.

    Seems direct drive turbos tend to be high end, and thus smart, or interactive. Which often means magnetic.

    This seems to fit the bill though. Are there others?

    Might make this my xmas present

  • Is there a reason you don't want smart? Smart doesn't just mean records power, it means self-adjusting resistance too. I have a Kickr and would never consider anything else, it's just that good. I also have my own power meter, but I power-match that against the Kickr when using Trainer Road or PerfPro.

  • I guess the Lemond fits in there.

  • The Lemond is awesome - would recommend.
    Noisy though.

  • 'm meant to be buying a house next week

    Does it have an airless basement for you to sweat train in?

  • What's the point of DD turbos? Is it just saving tyres?

  • Has a pleasent Wooden conservatory.

    ......which I will turn to hell.

    Might actually be able to open half of it up to the winter.

    .......it'll be a frozen hell.

  • Mainly paying fr stuff I don't need. Also it's sounds complicated.

  • Noisey is fine I think.

  • Meant to be quieter and more stable.

    No fucking punctures either. I get twice the punctures on my turbo than my road wheels.

  • Me too, fucking turbo punctures - how do they work?

  • Well I'm using a chinese carbon clincher rim that I melted the fuck out of on a mountain descent. Its warped to fuck, and even has a split in the side where the valve extender goes. SO I'm kinda asking for it.

    But starting a bastard turbo workout which I've carefully chosen to fit exactly into the free time I have. Just to suddenly feel resistance drop......

    ......Drives me batshit crazy.

    Doesnt piss me off so much puncturing outside.

  • The smartest shit in my training is turning the music volume up and smashing it.

    How it's done.

  • The feel.
    The lemond gives an amazing feel through the pedal stroke.
    Its so nice to ride.

    I might need to chop in my lemond for one of those tacx neos. The lemond is so damn loud, and I might have to train in the flat.
