Oh yeah there's definitely some tension there. I think for me there's a difference between just putting relatively normal stuff on your build that you think looks cool, and making a very conscious effort to emulate something as you say, without understanding why anyone is doing things in a certain way. Plus to me there is a big difference between someone doing something on their own bike, vs trying to get money for some monstrosity they dreamed up like the Jokfil people.
Obviously, as with many things, there's not a super sharp distinction! And a lot is super subjective, like some of the paintjobs posted on here that I actually kind of liked. (NOT the Anime bike further up though!)
I've not actually encountered many 'anti' things in the wild - I think the worst one was this handlebar. Now that took a lot of conscious effort to make it as ridiculous as possible. (And no it wasn't loose, it was fixed in this position!)

One is company with one person's vision and the other is some other person's vision
There is definitely a distinction to be made between mocking a new user on the forum who has come here for advice and mocking a company's products. Facing harsh criticism is part and parcel of making and selling a product. It's not something you deserve when you humbly ask for advice from people more knowledgeable than you.
But I agree, thread reboot - it's been a shockingly long time since this was reposted:

It's an all-time great like Pengy. Hall of Fame. Aside from maybe the derailleurs, chain and inner cables every single part is shit.

The longer you look, the worse it gets - I just clocked there are three green frog lights on the seat post / seat tube... probably some more hidden somewhere.

EDIT!
Thread has moved on. Apologies for wall o' textCompletely fair enough, and again to me at least this is part of the fun of it with regards to actually having a discussion about opinions and perhaps coming away with a more refined viewpoint.
As the mantra goes anyone on two wheels is a friend and I'd genuinely be horrified to think the OP was hurt or put off cycling in anyway as a result of my comments, however I'm fairly certain if they have read it they probably just think I called their child ugly and that I'm a rude prick (not wrong in this instance) along with literally everyone else in this thread, not that this is an excuse as we all know that my comments however valid I think they are are bad behavior which loops us back to this entire thread essentially being gatekeeping/elitist bad behavior and each of us either being ok with that and finding where we personally place the boundaries for such criticisms or abstain for partaking in it at all.
All that said I'm glad we've had the discussion and I'll probably leave it there as venturing into the ethics of anti-porn is a bit of a derail and I'm sure everyone had enough of text posts!
@frankenbike
To be honest with you I only had a cursory glance to check it (probably) wasn't the person's bike I replied, other than that I have no idea of the context in which it was presented other seeing it it here. Whilst as stated above I fully acknowledge this is all bad behavior and agree that modest advice seekers should be spared the baptism of fire LFGSS so often offers, I don't think the distinction is generally as clear cut as you.For example a bike like Pengy is someone's absolute pride and joy, it's also fairly safe to think you find it an abomination. Is criticism justified in this case because it's more ugly to you?

Don't hurt people's feelings & anti is only for really really ugly bikes.

I wouldn't say that's anti, it's just a bit boring because it's all black

No
Fair enough, and please don't take this the wrong way but is it not a touch hypocritical to complain about gatekeeping (which I agree with you about and to be clear my problem is the poor pastiche) but to read (and presumably take enjoyment from) a thread specifically created for the purposes of mockery?
You may say there is a difference between the Jokfil's and the kind of bike we're talking about but if we really boil it down there isn't. One is company with one person's vision and the other is some other person's vision, why is one exempt from criticism and the other not because it's more outlandish?
