NuVinci geared hub, costs about $350-$450, weighs 4.1 kg (!)...
http://www.fallbrooktech.com/nuvinci.asp
http://www.bikeman.com/HU0103.htmso although it's really cool technology, it's way too heavy.
Ball bearings? Traditionally used to minimise friction, hubs, BBs etc...
What would the efficiency of the power transfer be here, compared to a standard chain?Cool technology? What's the efficiency?

Looks like it was put together by a total feckwit. I mean, imagine what you could do with that frame and a few £s (or Kr)

To clarify I use 'good ugly' as a term to describe things that look good, but are not by any means pretty.
My current screen saver is what I would describe as 'good ugly'

Gears are a requirement on a cargo-bike.. unless it has a really low gear, and then it will be boring riding it empty ;)

haj, sorry, my "fixed" comment was a (weak) attempt at humour.
The serious bit was about the efficiency of the ball bearing drive, which is what I thought you were replying to. -
