  • Why such a long stem and backward seatpost?

  • yes i do have other bar/stem combos (shorter stems, higher stems etc. ) built up - plus a layback and neutral post to fit this too. but i do reckon i'll be this far forward anyway. it's just the way i've found i had to ride on the track, like i just couldn't get the power down with seatpost further back. and shorter / higher bars aren't more comfortable with the low long bars like this you can lock out your elbows a bit more and relax tricep/ biceps/shoulders more etc.

only finished yesterday night - position needs shakedown, but from experience i reckon i won't be bringing it much back from that i think.

it's not a back ward seat post but a fast forward TT sort of thing - it's supposed to be that way . the saddle has tons of padding on the nose. nothing i like in a road bike seems to work for me on the track . primarily because of the need for power and position being strong on the track

  • I suppose a more forward position for sprinting?

  • might be good for that - but i was thinking more to be able to get power and comfort right to keep on the track longer - and keep up with the lines. it doesn't look so comfortable but its better than trying to hold that position on the standard sort of set up. testing will tell

  • Locking arms while riding on the track is the way to fall off.

  • I think the Somec looks amazing.

It also looks like it's trying to creep off the page like so:

one does not simply qwop into a formal suit like that.

  • Its growing on me, less red and i like more

  • Go on, Mongo! Lick that window.

  • sick. needs panniers.

  • Locking arms while riding on the track is the way to fall off.

I think he's talking about keeping the arms almost straight, rather than bent at 90deg, sort of Sosenka rather than Meyer

  • I see. When I think of locked arms I think of someone locking the arms out properly straight. so you're hardly using the muscles and just resting the majority of the weight on the bones.

  • I can't post pictures from my phone, but hasn't the specialised aero road frame (concept) from their fb page shown up here yet?

I'm interested whether it'll end up in porn or anti first!!

  • Borderline imo,

  • i just couldn't get the power down with seatpost further back.

    Bullshit.

You have such feeble glute power that the only way you get any power down at all is by ramming the saddle forwards and using your beefy shin power.

Get to the gym you wuss.

  • This is from like 2006/07, it's one of the 1st posts in this thread... which makes me wonder; It's a carbon Dolan exactly like a carbon Planet-x from 2010!? Innit?

  • Either way, win.

  • @ Emyr -what you say may or may not be the case - i've never inferred otherwise, and i have said i've not tested the current set up so it may not reflect the end setup at all, all i've said is i find myself getting forward to get more power.
However your response feels slightly disproportionate to the discussion. i'm sorry you feel you need to write in that way to someone you don't know - all i can say is, I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for.

@ OZ yes just less bend on the arm - like 20 degrees instead of 90. the pic of the guy at 90 is not too bad as he's kind of using an aero bar style of leaning on the bars so it's a bit mis leading. if he was holding same position on the drops without his forearms taking the weight, then his shoulders and triceps would be taking more strain

  • we all know thats a HHSB
