A mate of mine bought a 650C specific bike for tri's. They look horrible on a 700C bike......
.....and thus will blend in nicely at any tri transition stand.

No idea, maybe just industry noobs picking the wrong parts from the Strong Guo catalogue and applying old-school mark-ups. The F16 frame is £700 here, and OEM price seems to be about $450 in quantities of 10+
The Matrix/Tank tandem looks pretty sweet, shame the .uk company hasn't chosen to bring that in.

Wow, Matrix really go from one extreme to the other; after the track tandem, which is verging on porn, the F18 "tri bike with disc brakes" goes off the scale in the other direction, making the F16 look pretty normal in comparison.

IIRC, long wheelbase single track vehicles have to lean over more for a given corner, so a high BB on a tandem might make sense. On the other hand, given Matrix/Tank's form, they might just not have much of a clue.

Why would you put discs on a tt bike?
To avoid putting heavy brake tracks on the rims. With carbon tubular rims (and even, to lesser extent, metal and clincher rims), the elimination of the brake track and the reinforcement needed to resist the brake squeeze might be pretty close to the weight penalty of disc brakes, and you get brakes which work properly in all weathers as a bonus.

Isn't a rim brake easier to make aero than a disc though? Also as bikes have a minimum weight it may not actually be worth the effort. I can see it reducing the rotational weight but then for TT's that doesn't really matter as you're not accelerating/decelerating much

No idea; there's a current thread on brake aerodynamics on ttf, and the lesson we should all learn is that looking aero is not the same as being aero.
