  • Graham, I really like that bike!? I agree that sheriff hubs might not be a great idea as apparently they break easily, and that that saddle may have cost the owner a few bob but the bicycle looks brilliant in my opinion. And while we're on it, aren't you the one riding on the road with a Corima carbon-fibre track wheelset covered in Stussy stickers???

Yes and no. They are carbon Corima but they are road clinchers.
I bet that bike hasn't done more than 6mph and has been pushed more than ridden! Probably never been ridden for more than 2miles....

  • the hubs are quite in keeping with the frame and the saddle looks absolutely perfect on it! who knows what he paid for it or how much he knows or how he rides it...

  • Sherriff Stars on Velocity's?!? It's like buying a Ferrari and sticking a Ford Fiesta engine in it
Needs to be on some decent rims imo
The bike just shouts 'victim' to me, the parts don't compliment each other at all except the hubs and frame. Is he a mate of yours or something?

  • Own up, who's is this then? How to kill one of the best ever frames by being a trendy twat with too much money than sense

    Complete muggins!
    All the gear, no idea!
Sherriff Stars on the street, yeah good idea!?! AND laced to fuckin Velocitys!?
Even has one of those Stussy/Brooks saddles, yeah, well worth the £350!?

haha outside lock 7 near broadway market. someone kill that and split it and sell me the sherrif stars

  • Yep but I actually ride it, I bet that bike hasn't done more than 6mph and has been pushed more than ridden! Probably never been ridden for more than 2miles....

i've seen the 'pushing' trend first hand. it seems to be sprouting up both in leeds and glasgow.

trendy types with artfully tied scarves, and new (expensive) shiny bikes just well........pushing them.

i did see one guy try and ride his but his little legs couldn't turn the pedals and after twenty yards of wobbling up the road, he gave up and wen't back to pushing.

in the words of marvin gaye, 'what's going on?'

    sorry for the hi-jack.

Same as in Paris. I've not seen anyone on a fixedgear ride quicker than I could run

  • bikes like that put kids off cycling for life.
theyll be heavy, clumsy & poorly fitting for kids.
And check those front fork ends and 'trick nuts' on the back, all to go with the peng tastic paintjob.
Chris' es shoes just go to show the lack of taste which may be to blame.

    Rubbish.

I fucking loved my bmx and it was waaay dodgier than these Gold ones.
I still had it as an adult until I left Oz I loved it that much. I donated it to a special needs school since I couldn't bare to have it "devalued" by selling it to someone.

Just because you don't like the look of a bike doesn't mean some 10yo will stop pulling tricks on it and become the next fucker to beat the Aussies in the Olympics..

    +1

if it gets kids onto bikes it can only be a good thing.

how many ten year olds (or their parents) have the money to go and get into track cycling?

this is a cool way to get on a bike and enjoy bike riding for not too much money and that's what's important.

i was eighteen and working before i got any type of bike that wasn't utterly shit - they were all far worse than the BMX's halfords are selling!

  • Are you serious?

"Yeah mate, I wanna build a bike with all the coolest, trendiest bits on it, cost ain't an issue"
"OK, well first off all get yourself a £1,500 frame that you can cycle round the streets of London at 3mph so everyone can stare at you, then you need the wheels. I suggest you buys some £250 track hubs that'll shatter if you you go up and down a curb on, while you're at it, lace them to some heavy as fuck shit rims - Velocitys should do it, all the cool kats roll with 'em"
    "Great mate, sold!"
"To top it off though, stick a trendy saddle on it, ltd edition so you can be really one step ahead! £350 but they only made 150 so it doesn't matter about cost
"Wow mate, you know your shit!"
    "Thanks, I know"
    "How long will it take?"
    "Oh, only about a year...."
    "Oh........"

Heres me thinking you knew your shit.....????

Who took down your conversation verbatim anyway?

  • I hope you realise I'm taking the piss? And I hope you're taking the piss too

Own up man. Which one were you, the shop assistant or the money man?

I quite agree with you Johnny but when i worked in Halfords i got to experience first hand parents coming into the store on the run upto christmas and refusing to pay anythin over £75 for a full size bike.
Now, thats not the bad part, the bad part is that these parents had very often been in the other shops around Halfords and were carrying with them what must have been thousands of pounds worth of mobile phones, games consoles, ipods etc.
People don't seem to have any idea of what a decent bike actually costs and are much more willing to spend their money on presents that will keep their kids indoors in front of the telly.

  • But the streets are full of hoodies, rapists and paedo's so you can't blame them

  • But the streets are full of hoodies, rapists and paedo's so you can't blame them

he said the kids were stuck indoors

  • Read again....
That's why they parents keep them indoors........

  • £100 for a bicycles with 2 suspension and lots of gear is a bargain to them instead of a decent road/hybrid that cost £300ish.

now that I'm thinking about it, I'm kinda glad when I was 15, my parent decided to get a rigid bike from Evans in the £300ish bracket at the time, I thought it was a lots of money (but I wasn't complaining!), but now I realise for that much you pretty much got a bike that'd last well for years.

hell, the bike is still in the shed, but being an MTB it only see the mountain of the lake district sporadically every year.

(Kona Hahanna without suspension fork of course).

surely in that case just direct them to tesco,
where for one or two xbox games they can grab a bmx or even a MTB for their kid

  • ^^^ thats pretty fugly fer sure

ed gave me an idea, dont you think there should a thread for "what was your first bike"?
could be interesting to known what people started off with. Anyone care to create a thread?

surely 90% of people will just put 'raleigh bmx'?

  • well but surely it will make things interesting as everyone will have something in common to talk about. as well as for those whose first bike wasnt a bmx or something, makes them sshhhhpecial :))))

  • That bike is almost there but something very wrong, can't put my finger on it - just looks odd

    Colour co-ordination fail
