That really is as close as you can have anti-porn to porn... Just the wheels... The rest is perfect...
-
• #11179
Exactly! Cannot understand them wheels on a San Rensho frame!

Did he not fancy putting straps & cages on?
-
• #11181
Chainset is wrong too.

Didn't even notice that as i was blinded by the hideous Spoks!

What? Shimano? perfectly fitting frankly.

Stop saying 'frankly' at the end of everything, is does nae make sense and it's annoying

3rensho on the last page is the perfect example of anti-porn - how can something good be wasted with just a touch, in this case 'spoks. maybe he did it on purpose, just to get in here?..

hes got a brake so he doesnt really need foot retention
Yes he does.
-
• #11187
Not really, it's a good starting point to ride fixed with front brake and no foot retention, especially if you're not used to the whole 'pedal still moving' aspect of it.
-
• #11188
I'd have though foot retention was even more important if you're not used to riding fixed. It's probably marginally preferable to have your feet dragged round by the pedals against your will rather than have the pedals come round and smack you in the back of the ankle after you've let your feet off the pedals.

Disagree Ed - foot retention is even more essential when learning to ride fixed IMO

The ring is horrid. Needs a different chainset on it in my opinion.
-
• #11191
Have you seen an actual keirin bike? example;
-
• #11192
Older probably wasn't the best choice of wording. But the chainset on that is only marginally better for not being covered in the shimano logo.

Ed, is that bike leaning on a turd?
-
• #11194
Foot retention is always vital on a fixed, in my opinion. If you lose the pedals you're screwed. Also he only has one brake without any straps or clips, which is another Sparky no-no.

that is not how you use tynans security paste
bars and saddle mate, bars and saddle

^That's Tomity's Kalavinka, even for purposes of scoblisms, it shouldn't have been posted here.

I can't speak for you guys in hilly country, but here in Hollands it's common to have only one brake (coaster). I'm riding ss with only a front brake and it's harder/better/more precise than any coaster I've ever had. Those weren't really bikes you'd get a lot of speed on though, but I still think only a front brake is doable.
(Although never tried,) I think riding brakeless, with or without footretention, is BS. -

I think stopping is important... I couldnt do it without being stuck to my pedals. Very evident when i accidentally unclip while stopping.

I can stop OK with my front brake alone. I doubt I could do much with the rear (no rear caliper), without being fixed to my peals though.
I have twistwed out of a pedal by accident while spinning down a very long hill at well over 50 Kph. It was a steep mountain road with a big drop off one side. I was wearing my commuter shoes with eggbeater cleats, and have quattro pedals on the fixed. Perfectly compatible, just not an ideal combo for fixed riding.
Bloody scary.
V true, blue is poo!
