Can anyone recommend a cheaper bag of beans that's still decent? Tired of our office coffee so gonna bring my own in, but can't justify £5.50-£7 / week for Pact / Monmouth / Allpress. Maybe be something around the £4 mark?
Go to city beverage on Old St. Great shop. They do loads of coffees for £1.50-£2 per 100g. Good for just daily stuff.

Oh my.

Will be £110... Far fewer fines than a Porlex though (10.6% vs 18.6% when Coffee Hit did some tests).

had coffee from there before, stale and with zero taste. Maybe hit and miss?

Shit the bed. I'd seen one of those, but not in action. WANT.

I think a naked PF is the last thing on my list. I might just drill the one I have and get a file out.
If you can do it yourself, do it. They are not being made bottomless, it's all manually done by someone.
I can't think of anything else you need: drill, file and a vice. -

Opps, missed this. I get mine via Amazon on their Subscribe & Save deal delivered straight to work every 2 months.
Nice beans, organic and fairtrade at under £14 a kg
I still go to Red Roaster or Small Batch every now and again for a 'special bag'.

I realize I should >>>>>>>> Names and faces to espresso machines,
but I am way too stoked on this to make rational forum posting decisions:
https://vine.co/v/hrUUdUT07Z5I thought maybe I was being ripped off because it has taken weeks, but it is finally here.
100s of shitty cups of espresso as I try to dial it in, here I come!

What sort of machine is that?

Good beard by the way

Is that like a Gaggia?

It's a Caravel (one of these types http://www.francescoceccarelli.eu/arrarex_eng.htm, not as nice of course).
They are ~60s era Italian metal things. They only make ristrettos no steam wand etc. and thus no pressure tank. Just a lever to make pressure the old fashion way.
Lucky that a ristretto is what I like non-filter-coffee-wise so I'm stoked. The horrible espresso I had while in Italy made me decide to get one and use it to make it better than them as kind of a revenge on the Italian nation.

Depends on what you get. None of it is high end, for sure, but it's daily And I've had a few duff batches from them for sure, but take it back and say so, and they'll always swap it for you. Staff are sound and know their stuff if you ask. But some great stuff for the price, and most of the time great. Also their teas are great.

I can attest to this - my Cousin, Joe, one of the best guys out there, works in there. If you see a guy with a cast on his hand, wobbling about, thats him... He got car doored by some guy a couple of days ago when riding down mare street. Give him some condolences!

Nasty! Hope he called the police, immediate £1000 fine if you car door someone.
Anyone know the cheapest place to get filters for a one cup dripper?
That coffitivity app is hilarious.

Just received my third despatch email from Pact. So far I'm really enjoying it. I always forget to re-order and so go a few days without good coffee but subscriptions send more coffee than I require. Getting the pre-despatch email is great because it gives me the option of delaying the coffee by a few days (5 days this time) and choosing from the selection of coffees they've got available. Would highly recommend it (particularly with the first bag being £1, that's what roped me in).

What shape?
Regular flat bottomed ones are a couple of quid from my local tesco, conical ones for my V60 I bought for £3.50 from Coffee Circus in crouch end, but I'm sure most places that serve decent pour over will have them...

+2!
Tried 3 or 4 different beans now and all have been great!
