  • Free sample of Grey Sky Sumatra Toba

Apparently it's a limited offer and it was put up on HUKD a week ago so maybe there's none left, but worth a punt. You can choose whether or not they grind it.

Thanks rhowe! Gave it a go and they said it will be on it's way.

  • Can't argue with the price

  • Thanks also. Have given it a go. Not a huge fan of Sumatran beans for espresso, but my wife will be happy to use it with her filter at work.

  • wicked

i was in touch with Steve before xmas asking about an espresso subscription

    ordered this

hangover cure bag 450something arrived yesterday, if it's going out sequentially I'm surprised more hasn't been sold given it's 1k bags per month...

p'raps folks don't want to bother to dial-in short run blends?

  • january's a weird month to push a service with a big initial cash outlay. perhaps uptake on the service will improve after the first post-xmas payday

  • I hate coffee when I'm hungover.

  • Any recommendations for a shop in London that refurbished your machine for a fees?Obtained g/f Dualit Espressivo that need a good service.

    No one?

  • Maybe try Doctor Espresso? A shop I'm "friends with" on FB, run by a good dude, had him servicing an old machine recently.

  • Looked at these places?

    London Espresso?

    Dr. Espresso and reviews

again, I don't know them, just a search.

  • you're welcome

  • picked up some bits for my machine today

new shower screen, VST basket, descaler, gaskets and a cleaning brush

machine descaled, backflushed, and new parts installed and one post backflush sot run through

will get to taste the difference tomorrow morning

  • night night

  • I hate coffee when I'm hungover.

Totally. Nothing worse than a fear-inducing hangover, only worsened by caffeine.

  • Holding it down with a dark roast from the Yemen. Punchy!

I've seen those, just wondering if anyone here have any recommendation or such.

    Thanks.

  • Chug, love that mug.

  • Went to Caravan today. Had a filter of the Rwandan which was good; had a smooth, caramel-like taste. It was slightly more acidic than I'd like, but overall very good. The flat white there was excellent. It had treacle/licorice flavours at the end, and was very rich.

Also, the Spanish black pudding there was absolutely awesome.

I've bought some of their Ethiopian Dumerso and Kenyan Gachirago. Both seem to be roasted for filter, etc. but I have given them a bash in the espresso machine. The Dumerso was a typical Yirgacheffe, but it was on the lighter side, and the tea-like flavours and fragrance you get with Yirgacheffe wasn't that intense. The Kenyan is similar in a way, in that it was what I was expecting, except I wasn't blown away by the fruitiness; a could taste a little blackcurrant, and there was an almond flavour too.

  • Having done some planning today there is just no way that a commercial two group machine is going to fit in my kitchen, so if anyone wants the one I have (awaiting service), let me know and you are welcome to pick it up.

    The machine, a Gaggia E81:

@Dammit you had that commercial Gaggia machine available a little while ago. this is a massive longshot but does anyone have something like this going?

  • Gaggia Classic advice required please...

Have had mine for about 3 weeks and neither backflushed nor descaled it yet (it's not had much use as I don't have time to use it in the week)

What are reccommended products to use for either of these processes?

  • Puly caff and Puly baby from happy donkey and a water filter jug to help prevent it in the first place

  • ^ +1 except without the filter if you have nice water like we get in Manchester.

2 Hangover Cures and a Square Mile Burundi today left me unable to swim properly this evening...

  • nerd^

    touche

  • ha, nice cross topic retort. /nerd
