Been in here a few times, does great coffee at reasonable prices. The abundance of papers lying around at the weekend make it a pretty decent place to chill out for an hour or so. The aussie / kiwi barista is really friendly too which helps.
Hello coffee freaks,
It's been now about 1 month that I've been helping my mate, Lo, in his little gem of a cafe - Bird.
Bird café is located in Dalston, for those of you bothered enough to get a good, decent, worth every pence, cup of brew.
We're serving Climpson&Sons (default), Andronicas and Nude (<ususally only weekends).
There's also a variety of sarnies and baked stuff, the good news is that I'M DOING ALL THE BAKING!... 8D
so yes, most of the stuff I've posted to FOOD thread, is being served at Bird.
Muffins, brownies, toasts, melts, weapons, honeys, smoothies...you name it.
Don't be shy, come by, we're trying to make it more bike friendly, trying to figure out a way of having
our own racks/vases outside but the council is a bitche.location: 52 Boleyn Road, Dalston, Hackney N16 8JP
LFGSS friendly, if you ask for your coffee followed by "do a skid!!!", that's 10% off. ;)
You're all welcome you bunch of hipsters.
Laters.

and rumours abound that you're going to start (or already have started) selling ground monmouth street ground coffee to take home?
also much respect cos the other day we were out of coffee and the lady in there gave us some ground coffee to take home.

^ been there, it's very nice. Spoke to an australian / kiwi (?) guy there, was after some beans. They didn't sell them at the time so he gave me a whole cup of their own, top man!

Bought a Baratza Virtuosa grinder yesterday from Coffee Machine on the King's Road. Good service in there and reps for giving me a free bag of house blend beans. Been saving up for a while and really glad with the results. It has 40 grind settings and really low RPM. Very excited to be buying beans rather than ground from now on....

Dropped by this afternoon with the other half - 2 flat whites (nude espresso), blueberry muffin, a chocolate cookie and a side of skidz. Coffee was ace and left me pining for a straight espresso, but I decided to hold it off (one of the better attempts to control my daily caffeine intake). Your muff rivalled even the best to come out of Tibb's bag, of which I've been lucky to sample quite a few of late. The cookie was good enough to prevent my girlfriend from sharing it with me. On my way out I was gifted some brownie in the hopes that I might agree that the ginger should be left out of the recipe - actually thought it made a pretty nice break from the norm though I can understand the argument. Definitely going back! Also props for the vegan cake, I'll be pointing a few of my friends in your direction.

HA!^^Lo called me on purpose, saying: "..dude, we just had our 1st "skid"!!..."
.... awkward silence for about 30 secs... "Oh, ...ok, tell me more. WTF r you on about?!" - me goes.

I confess I got a bit enthusiastic to stick a tablespoon of ground ginger in the brownie dough... But it tastes great, IMHO. ;)

Drinking Nude beans today. Ethiopian Sidamo. Great fruitiness. Works well in both the Aeropress and espresso machine (made up to Americano with milk though).

Bit late I know, but I've done some research on this subject.
I haven't tried the Ginger for two place, as it seems always to be shut or shutting.
Of the rest, the pasty place is actually the best place to get a coffee- not the West Cornwall one, the place opposite.
After that, Nero.

Very happy with the results I have been getting from Hasbean's Jailbreak blend.
that's the blend I enjoyed most of the starter pack.
currently enjoying Phil Ter blend via aeropress, v.smooth.

Just waiting at Winchester station for the train back up to London. I succumb and ask the girl behind the counter at the Pumpkin cafe there for a black Americano. It's the second item down on their menu. £2.65...
"A black Americano please."
"A black Americano? Sure. Do you want the latte milk with that?"
I hesitate.
"No, just the black Americano thanks."
"It's just that we offer free latte milk with that."
"oh, ok."
"So that's a yes to the free latte milk?"
"No, just the normal kind of black Americano."
She looks hurt.
"2.65 please."I should have waited until I got back to London.
Incidentally, if anyone wants to open a cafe, then Winchester is clearly crying out for you.

I haven't but I shall certainly keep it in mind for next time, ta.
Thankfully/Unfortunately I was working so much I didn't really get a chance to go into town so made use of the aeropress + beans I brought with me :)

I don't remember that place, I will have a look next time I am down (weekend after next I think).
I've ended up buying my parents a subscription to Hasbean, and am steadily upgrading their coffee machine and grinder.
