popped in for a coffee today at Kaffeine and without prompting the barista remembered me from yesterday and asked if my coffee was hot enough - good memory and attention to detail, she also mentioned that they'd done temp tests on the milk after they'd got an email from a customer.

I got ya man.. I know I can roll up to London Bridge for beans.. I was thinking more of strolling distance for a proper brew. I'm pretty much on Lambeth Bridge and used to falling out of the office and into Flat White.

I'm still a big fan of Lantana in Charlotte's Place, fantastic coffee and really nice people working there

Not been, but they're serving Monmouth apparently, you might even be able to get your beans from there.

Thanks Daveypants. Not wandered in that direction yet and it's only a stones throw away (tend to gravitate toward Waterloo environs)

so are there different ground beans for stovetop use and machine use? If so any recommendations for the stovetop way of brewing coffee?

It's here somewhere, but to summarise; use filtered water; boil in kettle; bring to boil and when the purring starts turn off the gas.

found somewhere in Willesden that sells Monmouth for relatively cheap — deli full of yummy mummy's having tea, run by similar people, looked very confused when I walked in and asked to actually BUY the coffee - also got very uppity when I asked them if they baked their own bread and could I buy some yeast? No, I can't have their secret yeast apparently.
I don't think they understood that some people like to make things themselves rather than just pay other people to do it.
They also asked me if I wanted chocolate on my macchiato. Fail
