Usually means a bad seal between screw cap and filter paper. You had the plunger in place for the 2 min brew time as well yeah?

i did this out of habit as used to do that with a regular filter set up, even though JH says it's not necessary.

Yeah it seems fine; it has a bit of a funky lid - sprung like some water filter jugs so you can fill it without taking the lid off, but you can also just take the lid off so not a huge issue.

I like the "integrated water level indicator" (it's glass??? 🙄).

Edit: also, whilst it only boils to 5° increments, it has a continuous temp display so you could get fussy getting closer if you wanted

I don’t bother. I just follow the JH method and have been happy enough. I much prefer an efficient method over chasing diminishing gains through ever more detailed processes.

Meh, inverted method here. No drips. Just fill it up, stir, and forget about it for a couple of minutes.

I have some of the coffee bags. Find they’re somewhat better than instant but good for heathens

The warehouse manager at my old job used to put hours old (very shit to start with) coffee in the fridge over night and microwave it in the morning. Tasted like actual poison.

‘Waves’ I make a pot, pour 2 cups, shout “Coffee” at my partner who then may or may not get up to drink the artisanal beverage straight away so will be microwaved for 30seconds if it’s too cold.
The remaining 50ml in the pot gets 15 seconds at 800w and split between us.
I know it’s wrong but just don’t care.

Microwaved coffee is still better than drinking it cold.
