Usually means a bad seal between screw cap and filter paper. You had the plunger in place for the 2 min brew time as well yeah?
-
• #26378
Might invest tbh. Looks decent!
-
• #26379
do you usually wet the filter paper first?
i did this out of habit as used to do that with a regular filter set up, even though JH says it's not necessary.

Yeah it seems fine; it has a bit of a funky lid - sprung like some water filter jugs so you can fill it without taking the lid off, but you can also just take the lid off so not a huge issue.
I like the "integrated water level indicator" (it's glass??? š).
Edit: also, whilst it only boils to 5Ā° increments, it has a continuous temp display so you could get fussy getting closer if you wanted

I donāt bother. I just follow the JH method and have been happy enough. I much prefer an efficient method over chasing diminishing gains through ever more detailed processes.

Meh, inverted method here. No drips. Just fill it up, stir, and forget about it for a couple of minutes.

I have some of the coffee bags. Find theyāre somewhat better than instant but good for heathens

Or people who heat lovely filter coffee in the microwave š

The warehouse manager at my old job used to put hours old (very shit to start with) coffee in the fridge over night and microwave it in the morning. Tasted like actual poison.
-
• #26386
I should say - like johnny69 I use the inverted method.
-
• #26387
Didn't JH discover that was the best way to reheat coffee?
-
• #26388
Maybe 'least bad' would be more appropriate

āWavesā I make a pot, pour 2 cups, shout āCoffeeā at my partner who then may or may not get up to drink the artisanal beverage straight away so will be microwaved for 30seconds if itās too cold.
The remaining 50ml in the pot gets 15 seconds at 800w and split between us.
I know itās wrong but just donāt care. -
• #26390
Microwaved coffee is still better than drinking it cold.
-
• #26392
I hadn't had a coffee yet and it was about 11am so I ain't being picky
-
• #26393
Chilled filter FTW
-
• #26395
Cold coffee is great if you're expecting it, less so if you're not
-
• #26396
Cold coffee is great if it has lots of sugar and alcohol in it.

/3. me.

Level up. Soaked in sponge cake and topped with sweet, whipped mascarpone and cream, dusted with cocoa. Maybe a bit of cheeky orange zest. OH YEAH!

Just completed the integrated hardware scales modification on the Gaggiuino, was fiddly but result is very satisfying. Now flow profiling with stop on dose
done - however due to some form of user error, on my first attempt the water all dripped through before the time to plunge.
coffee still tasted good, though
